TRY THE RED EYE GRAVY. I was told theirs was different: Maybe, but in an amazing way. My first thought when I tested it was "amazing black bean soup". Smooth. Creamy. Nice spice. Not too bitter. I did not check if it was available in the market attached, but I would have taken home a gallon. Fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese: great. Sausage gravy: great. My southern bred father said he had never had such good biscuit with sausage gravy
So cute!! I can't believe I hadn't tried this place out sooner! Came here with a friend and her pup for brunch and sat in the covered area. They had so much seating outside, and it was a beautiful day, so we had a perfect time! The covered space seems like it could become completely enclosed in cooler months, and there are so many seating arrangements! Also the food was just delicious! I got the Black Dog and savored every moment of it! The biscuit texture was perfect. I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying something else on the menu, it was so hard to choose the first time!
Biscuits are so delicious as well as the chicken! Chicken was so well seasoned, juicy cooked to perfection.
Atmosphere is amazing. Beautiful garden. I wasn't having a good morning until I hang out here and had breakfast! Thank you for making good food and keeping such beautiful Atmosphere!
It's also not so common to find specialized places! This place is a gem.
Overall, I enjoyed my first time dining here! I got the “Got your Goat” and a Chai latte - both were great. Everyone else in my party enjoyed the biscuits they ordered, as well. I definitely appreciate that they have ample free parking which is sometimes hard to come by in RVA. The logistics of ordering vs dining in is not exactly clear/a bit confusing for first time diners. The indoor space is very small but there’s additional seating outside for customers to enjoy as long as the weather is nice (which thankfully it was today). Cute place! Definitely better than a lot of the other biscuit places we’ve tried.
Fantastic blend of flavors and experience - outside had a fantastic early afternoon and I got the Goat - fried chk, honey habanero sauce, goat cheese, buttermilk biscuit. Loved the aesthetic of the outside seating with the garden. Nice staff.
I order Fancy biscuit for takeout about once a month, and usually it's amazing! But today's was disappointing. The 'got your goat' barely had any goat cheese, the biscuit was stale and crumbly, the chicken was over cooked and dry. And the side of grits was barely half a scoop. I'll hope this is a one off late afternoon problem (ordered at 2 on a rainy day).
Holy cow this place was freaking delicious!! I had The Fan which is chicken smothered in country gravy with bacon and cheddar on a buttermilk biscuit. The flavor was out of this world!!! I also ordered the Coffee Magic, which was made with Baileys.
The decor was so beautiful. Lots of murals, paintings, plants and soft lighting.
Absolutely recommend this place for a delicious meal!!!
YES YES YES. Outstanding service, incredible food, wonderful vibes. Two floors of seating and an outdoor space. The wait staff all got chewed out by a very angry patron. The wait staff apologized to US for having to sit near that. They handled this rude and angry customer incredibly well and have us a free slice of cake the size of my head on our way out. I definitely recommend. Such a great breakfast spot.
WOW. The biscuits here are truly superb. I got the spicy chicken biscuit and my husband got The Fan. Both were excellent. Great customer service from staff as well!
We really enjoyed this place. First of all the building is gorgeous and the decor is unique and funky in a really authentic way.
We had the grit tots to start were super delicious, i had never had anything like them. Then the pulled pork Benny (some of the sweet potato hash was slightly undercooked and even so we raved about how it tasted) and the chicken biscuit with goat cheese.
Our Capps were great too! Highly recommend if you're visiting the area.
