I've been a patron of the PR since the early 1970s! The place has changed somewhat yet it still has that atmosphere that reminds me of my early visits in 1972 and on through the years! The food is still great and the beer selection along with the whisky choices are even more attractive! What really warms my heart is that my kids and their friends have discovered the PR and are enjoying it themselves!

Best burgers, best staff....always feel like I'm at home. If they have the Korean burger....GET IT!!!! Great wine selection and always a fun beer on tap.

Solid neighborhood sports bar with good eats across the street from NC State. You’ll be hanging out with locals who’ve been coming in for decades, professors talking shop, college kids on date night or just hanging out with friends. The service is friendly the food is homey. I recommend anything with PR sauce on it (ribs, wings, etc). The PR sauce is a sweet vinegar mild hardly Buffalo sauce that just manages to tic all the boxes. There’s a bunch of beer choices and a truly impressive collection of single malt Scotch whiskies as well as a full range of other liquor. Bottom line, PR is a good destination for the game or just to grab a bite/drink.

Nice bar. Stopped in randomly for a beer and some fries. Started here and found more bars lol. If you're looking for the party scene go to glenwood not walking distance but still a cool spot to visit.

Came here on a friend's recommendation and did not disappoint. Our server was friendly with the right amount of attentiveness, food was flavorful, and the whiskey selection was superb. If we lived in the area, we would be regulars.

Great restaurant to site outside on a beautiful day. Service was great. For a restaurant that advertises Rare burgers my medium-rare was well over cooks. Burger was still good and the pasta salad was great. My wife has a salad with shrimp which I tried and was excellent, wish I could remember the dressing she had to tell you to get. Definitely stop by for a quick lunch.

Between 4 and 5 stars- the onion rings were crispy and huge- I only ate one of them but they were better quality than the fries. The Asian burger was good and certainly a calorie splurge. They no longer require proof of vaccination which I know they had a rumor of doing for a very long time.

*Dog friendly restaurant and man were there friendly dogs there* On vacation and was looking for a good burger. This was definitely the move. Have you ever seen Ratatouille the movie, when he bites into the food and there’s fireworks and music as he savors the flavors - yea that’s what this was like. The burger buns are toasted which make it so much better. The onion rings are huge and the marinara sauce that comes with the mozzarella sticks is delicious. They have daily specials. Parking, I didn’t see a lot, but there’s cheap street parking along the street. Great service, great food! Highly recommend (outdoor seating) but it might be cold for that depending on time of year.

If you are near NC State do yourself a favor and stop in to the players retreat. Enjoy a Guinness and an eclectic menu of bar food. On Thursday night the chef mixes things up with a special menu. If you enjoy whiskey this place has a vast inventory.

Player's Retreat is a Raleigh institution for a reason. The food is consistently good and the service is excellent. Their outdoor dining area is a great place to eat on nice days.

Food was good, service was great, and the food came out fast! Great place to watch sports with lots of big TV's. We had the cheese fries as an appetizer with Ranch:) The bbq sandwich was delicious and tasted like mama made it! My husband had the fried shrimp and ate it so fast I didn't even get to try it! I guess we will be back:)

Nice dinner with friends. We brought cake and the girl helped us to pack all the leftovers. The food was very good.
