We were in Raleigh for NCHSAA Cheer Competition this weekend from Canton NC (Our girls placed 3rd in in State.... GO PISGAH!). After searching Google Maps for some place between The Convention Center and our hotel (The Aloft) for the hubby to get his taco fix, we ended up stopping by the room before heading up Hillsborough to a spot Google said was nearby. We then saw you adjacent to The Aloft and decided to give a try. Apparently the Taco Gods were working in our favor because not only was the staff super friendly and atmosphere/decor very nice but the food was AMAZING! After asking our server to recommend her fav dish, and ordering her suggestion, I had the Lackos... Short Rib Tacos and I must say the flavors were Incredible. Told my Husband I rate it right up with the very best dish I've ever had while dining out. All around, the entire experience left a very good taste in our mouths! Thank you!

I cannot say enough nice things about Gonza! In addition to delicious food, we also received amazing service! We went on a Wednesday night - without a reservation, but with a toddler. We were told it would be about a 25-minute wait - which anyone with a toddler knows is actually an eternity. Sensing my anxiety, the staff quickly found a solution: put us at a low-top table and others (without a kiddo in tow) at a high top. Sanity restored! Our waitress was attentive and really took time to find out what we liked before making excellent food and beverage recommendations. And the food - so good! What a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Thanks, Gonza!
Great margaritas and the armadillo eggs were a fantastic precursor. Our taste buds were activated before the main course arrived. Excellent southwestern fare in downtown Raleigh right off campus.
Downside to this place is the seating and the ambiance which is nothing special. On the other hand the selections of tequilas was excellent. Who cares at that point? We had a ton of fun and it was reasonable.

During the school year Gonza is usually mobbed; but, between semesters in the summer you can usually get in without a reservation.
I definitely recommend making this a spot to stop. Gonza Tacos y Tequila has a fantastic tequila menu with some wonderful cocktails. The cocktail menu is limited, but they are all delicious and all the purees are made in house.
Jackson our bartender was fantastic making sure we got a good selection of custom craft cocktails! I did get Margarita de la Casa strawberry plus a blended strawberry and passionfruit. They were both fantastic.
Megan is also wonderful and very friendly. Making us feel at home. I got a smorgasbord of food including: Chips and Queso, Chips and Guac, Mexican flag, Tamales, coconut flan, churros, and talega.
The tamales were amazing and the best item I've had at Gonza so far. The telaga was also amazing, the menu mentions cheese but to be clear it's cream cheese. The flavor is very approachable.
If you happen to have an opportunity make sure you stop into Gonza as it's entirely with it.
Great little downtown spot. The food is consistently good and the service is attentive but not overly so. The house margarita is a good price for your basic margarita no frills and a straightforward menu. The Mexican Flag is my favorite dish, as you get a little bit of everything taste wise and the fajitas are great as well.
First time here and the experience was great. The food was really tasty. I would like to say that one of the best dishes if not the best is El plátano. The server was awesome, great attitude. Wonderful atmosphere, and the decor is mind blowing.
A little too loud music for our taste and surprised no menu for the drinks but otherwise great service and tasty tacos.
I have been going to Gonza for years now and this location stands out to me. Had a great dinner and our server, Heather, was amazing and super accommodating. I recommend going by and trying out the queso too! Cheers!
You can tell when people give a damn. The service was friendly and effective, the food was amongst the best Mexican style I have had.
The beef short rib was melt in the mouth, the shrimp fajita was simply tasty. It was all fresh and served with a genuine smile.
It is a pity this place isn't open earlier and on Sunday.
Such amazing drinks I love the margarita passion fruit. The waitress pretty girl and also excellent talker. Food amazing coconut rice oh my God make come back in the time to my beautiful Colombia so excellent! If you are a parents this place is the coolest things, you can eat and check your sons bc front to the restaurant is pretty park !
got the chicken tacos which came with a side salad (wasn’t really expecting much out of the salad tbh) but it ended up being my favorite part of the meal! it was so, so, so delicious - loved the fruity, tangy tropical dressing drizzled on top of it! i think it was a mix of pineapple and mango? and our waitress was attentive and was friendly! and, of course, tacos are always amazing! loved the pico, and the tortilla shells were pretty stuffed.
Great atmosphere, friendly hosts and great food. Ordered chicken and steak fajita. The servers were attentive and made sure we were comfortable.
