Honestly, one of the best in Portland. The service was kind and courteous, the decor simply divine but it was the menu and the food that blew my mind! We had cold noodles, spicy noodles, fresh salad and the flan and pandan were so beyond delicious! If I could, I would eat this food everyday, including breakfast. Can't wait to go back to try some more of the menu. Go today! p.s. the music was so fabulous-check out their playlist on Spotify, CTB by Night. It will not disappoint!
Everything we ate was bursting with flavor and absolutely delicious, from the cabbage salad to the cold and hot noodle dishes to the flan and pound cake desserts. We have been to Hanoi and eaten authentic Vietnamese dishes and couldn't be more delighted to have found Cong Tu Bot.
What a fortunate find on our road trip to Portland. We built our own rice plate (com tam) that has a base of pickled carrots/daikon, cucumber, rice with scallion oil, and a side of fish sauce (nuoc cham) and topped it with twice cooked pork butt/belly with lemongrass glaze (heo ham chien) and steamed pork/egg meatloaf (bot chien cai xoan). The pork was so juicy, smoky, sweet, and savory and was well complimented by the fragrant rice and sides. We waited less than 10 min for our order and enjoyed eating in their small, self-serve outdoor area. There is plenty of street parking and a bathroom for customers.
Great place for Vietnamese food. Stopped in after seeing it on the NYT list of restaurants to try, and it did not disappoint. They were out of alot if menu items and there was very limited seating, but the food was fantastic. Would definitely stop in again next time I'm in Portland!
This is some of the best food I’ve eaten. The menu is creative and the food is delicious. The service is also very good as they are quick to prorate the food and I appreciate the pick up window. It is our favorite dinner spot in Portland. I was not surprised to find out that the place has been nominated for a James Beard.
Very, very good. The NYT was right. The spice level was perfect, the umami-ness was perfect, the menu is compact in a good way. Best fried rice I’ve had in years.
Loved Cong Tu Bot! Seriously the best Pho I've ever had;it was really well balanced. My husband's dish was super spicy but he liked it and appreciated that they weren't shy with the spice. The inside is really cool with lots of plants, a really nice vibe! We sat at the bar and while it was cool to watch the chefs cook with the open kitchen I would have preferred a table.
This hip little spot serves Vietnamese food with a twist. While their menu is small, their dishes pack a big flavorful punch. When we visited, it was takeout only. We got the chicken pho, Mom's fried rice, and Bún chả. Those dishes were delicious. I especially enjoyed the pho and fried rice. Give this place a shot!
