To start, the garlic knots were amazing soft, buttery, delicious treats. The open face lobster ravioli, to my delight, also included scallops and shrimp that were cooked to perfection and the sauce was a dream! The pizza was equally phenomenal and had loads of flavor. Definitely a place I plan to bring visitors coming in town to capture the best of Portland’s food scene!
Great restaurant and bar. The open face lobster ravioli was one of the best meals I’ve ever had! Our bartender was excellent and made several suggestions for food and drink. Will be back when in town!
We had a Great dinner experience at David's the other night. We sat up by the pass overviewing the open kitchen. The team worked well together and were the perfect amount of interactive with us. All the meals came out looking amazing and the chef told us what they were when we questioned.
The consensus was: best swordfish we have ever tried, blackened salmon was excellent, the steak was great, and the haddock with crab was phenomenal!
For dessert the ice cream sandwich was impressive and amazing! The creme brulee was excellent as well.
A few no-proof drinks were a welcomed surprise as two of us don't drink. The cocktails were great for the two of us that did drink.
You need a reservation to get into this place; however, if there's room at the bar, you really should try this place out. The bartender knows how to make an excellent drink, and she was very attentive to our little spills and empty plates. We ordered the mussels appetizer and then had the Duck and a Chicken Caesar Salad for dinner. We had no room for dessert, but would have loved it too I bet! I have been coming to David's for a long time now and I am still impressed with their service and food and spirits!
We had an inside window table in Feb & it was warm. The kitchen has an open view to the seating tables, which is very nice. This is a classy upscale dining experience. We recommend reservations.
This place was beautiful inside with a remarkable monument outside.
Inside the place has a really cool vibe with some classy decorations.
The food was outstanding. The lobster was delicious, the salmon melted in my mouth, the shrimp was plump and the ravioli was wonderfully creamy.
The staff were super kind and on top of it. Truly great service.
I had the belevediere for drink and it was delicious.
David's is truly one of those special places for amazing food.
We started the roasted brussel sprouts, which are dressed with crushed peanuts (?) and some kinds of sweet sauce (but not overly sweet) over it all.
The crispy skin duck breast is perfectly medium rear on a bed of risotto and sautéed greens.
The pizza was reminiscent of thin crust NY style pie.
Loved it all, we'll be back.
Great restaurant with amazing food and realistic portions. I don’t like getting a plate that can feed three people. The inside decor is very nice, industrial chic? Open kitchen in front where you can see the chefs cooking which is pretty cool. Great service too! Finding a place to park is kind of a pain but that’s how the area is. We parked a couple streets down and walked
We were lucky to land a walk-in spot at the bar overlooking the kitchen on a Thursday during a busy week - no other tables were available due to prior reservations.
Our server was kind and quick, bringing us cold waters and refreshing cocktails (the boy had Pepsi) - a Monument Mule for me, yum.
The garlic knots were the best I’ve ever had in my life, and simply must be tried.
I had a killer open-faced lobster-seafood ravioli and the boy ate a terrific hand formed pizza. The Mrs. had mushroom cavatelli and that met her high expectations.
David’s is clearly a local favorite in a town with good food. It was a special treat sitting by the bar, as fate would have it, because we had the luxury of watching the fine food prepared by a diligent and practiced team, who worked in sync with the staff to kick out exceedingly appetizing plates one after the next. Poetry in motion.
The place was a wonderful break from the seafood focused places by the water, and a reminder of the value of fine dining. Judged by the crowd inside and out, many agree with this sentiment. If you’re coming through Portland, this is a key spot, competitive with any of the places we’ve sought out in the region, and would clearly hold its own back here in New York.
