No frills, no fuss, great service and food. My car was in the shop so I had about an hour to kill. I hadn't had breakfast so I asked for a good place within walking distance. I'm glad Diane's Restaurant was recommended. The service was fast, good humored, and friendly. My meal came hot and quickly as well. The ham I'd ordered for breakfast was huge and delicious. It was so great to go to a good old down home diner and not get a lecture from the server about where my eggs came from, how special their coffee was, or where the bacon was from. Seriously, these people focus less on where the food came from, and more on what they do with it in the kitchen. No frills, no fuss, a good breakfast served quickly and generously.
Great breakfast place. Friendly staff. Good prices. My sons believe they have "the best pancakes in Portland."
Classic Breakfast. I like this place a lot. All the breakfast dishes are pretty standard but there cheap and good sized portions. Rarely can i finish my whole plate. You seat yourself, the food comes out fast, and you pay at the register. Making for a quick and cheap breakfast.
I'm from Chicago where there are many awesome little old school diners. But in Portland that seems to be a dying thing. Except at Dianes.... great old-school diner with the countertop seating and huge portions of great food made from scratch for a great price
What a great little diner type restaurant to satisfy the craving for diner food. We ordered two omelets, one of which was huge, the other a manageable size for breakfast. The biscuits and gravy were our least favorite and tasted like way too much flour went into the gravy. Service was slow but steady. All in all a good experience.
I have high standards for breakfast and it was really good! Great prices and nice staff. Nothing fancy, just good diner food. Would recommend.
Been going there for years and still love it. Nice, simple, and enjoyable.
Very appreciative of the friendly staff.
Simple all-American diner. Solid food, reasonable prices, and perfect after a night of drinking.
Full on DINER experience! Coffee was great and never went empty. Hashbrowns were real fresh and made from scratch. Glad we stopped! Diane was there too!
Great place for breakfast can get busy but service is prompt.
Reminds me of the good ol’ days when you can drive down a road and pull over into a good tasting diner with great proportions and great service.
They do a great job with the basics and have a great variety of food. The hash browns are delicious, and the chicken fried steak is good too. It’s a great place to sit down and have a hearty meal before taking on the day.
Rencently visited Dianne’s for breakfast. We ordered the chicken fried steak and blueberry pancakes. The chicken fried steak was hot and crisp, without being oily and the pancakes were fluffy and dreamy. Excellent and friendly service. They fill your coffee when you sit down and they keep it coming until you leave. Left feeling full and happy, but not heavy as with lesser diners. We’ll definitely be coming back in the near future.
Diane's is like a small, intimate restaurant, that only serves breakfast and lunch. Then they close. Prices are moderate, but the food is like homemade comfort food. Breakfasts are awesome and the bacon is thick sliced. Diane has run the place for many years and is kind, a just a nice person. I go there as much as I possible can, especially on Saturday or Sunday.
