Pinball and reasonably priced gourmet food! What a great combo. This restaurant is a bit off the beaten path. Easy parking in the neighborhood. Had the gluten free fried chicken with mashed potatoes and collards which was great. Happy hour specials too. Had a bit of a dive bar atmosphere and old house smell.
I know I'm just one guy and his date. And we only go here once a month. But please bring the Mussels and Clams! Tonight we tried to order the just "clams" and they were out. Love this spot, love the Mussels and clams!
Not what I expected from a place called a Bar. Not your traditional bar fare. Fresh, local, seasonal ingredients. Nice interior atmosphere, cool posters on the walls. More importantly, excellent food and great service. Two thumbs up!
CBar, my favorite neighborhood bar. I am going to come right out and say this: I love CBar. I really do. I live just down the street so it would be an understatement to say that my friends and neighbors and I spend an inordinant amount of time there. I love the bartenders, I love the drinks, I love the cooks, I love their burgers. Love it. I do have to say that their drinks and drinking atmosphere outweigh the food to some degree, but no matter! CBar is still a great hangout! They have a great cocktail menu , literally one of the only in town where I would be happy to order pretty much anything. My favorite is the Whiskey Snap: Makers Mark, ginger ale and a healthy heap of fresh shredded ginger root. Served on the rocks: I order their burger pretty much any time I dine there. They have other tempting things on their menu such as Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Chimichurri Hanger Steak, but those never seem to tempt me as much as their good ‘ol burger. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Lots of smiles and seem to enjoy being there. Very clean yet dive bar like atmosphere - in a good way. Food was simple and delicious. A ton of GF options. A good find while in the neighborhood.

A friend of mine loves this place so we came here for her birthday. I was surprised how it was. Everything about this place was great. Cynthia, the owner is wonderful! Her staff is great! Good food great service and just an overall great experience! Will definitely be coming back!
I love this place! New owners are fantastic, same great food. The infamous chef's burger now donned the chevre burger is still phenomenal and affordably priced. One of my all time favorites in Portland and now offering breakfast!
Cozy, cool decor, great drinks and food, and finally ... a room filled with pinball machines! And I know this might not matter to everyone, but all the bartenders were Gen Xers, not to mention excellent mixologists!
Fried chicken (1piece) was nice crispy over mashed potatoes, fried asparagus. Fanned out on side. All executed perfectly. Seasoned and not over cooked or over salted. Healthy list of beers.

The gravy actually melted the cheese curds! 😂👍It's not traditional, as the gravy is almost like a stew, with all the add-ins (spinache, bacon, carrots, mushrooms, etc)- but it was delicious AF. It has a little kick to it, so if you're not a fan of spicy, it's probably not for you.
The place was clean, atmosphere was chill & had a good ambience & the staff was friendly, helpful & on their service.
We'll definitely be back again & would definitely recommend.
I love CBar and have loved it for a decade. The food has undergone several transitions during this time and it is OK right now (used to be very good). BUT the bartenders are great and it remains one of my favorite places to play pinball in the city. I think the bar changed hands recently and when that happened, OLCC reinspected the place and disallowed minors in the pinball room. This is a major bummer that keeps me from coming weekly with my teenagers.
Came in for a lil birthday brunch and got the Benedict - sooo good. The veggie gravy is wonderful and the potatoes were perfectly cooked. Arugula bell pepper topping added great flavor.
Also sick pricing on the mimosas, and one of the best relaxed spots for pinball in Portland.
