I have never lived less than 100 miles from Portage but I have been a regular since the early 80's. The star of the show is the Jumbo Cheeseburger. The meat is ground fresh. The fried onions make it one of the top Cheeseburger's in Wisconsin. Pizza is also some of the areas best. Staff is friendly and efficient.
Yes, it's old, a bit run down ,not handicapped accessible and no credit cards but with food this good who cares.
Shack a rack pizza. This small shack of a place has character and warmth to it. The service was friendly and fast from this local joint. The space is limited with a bar a few tables inside and a few outside. Parking is around it and down to the local park. Great location as it is just in town on the bike path.
The main reason to come is the tasty food and plenty of drink offers. Three draft beers were on offer and plenty of others to choose from.
The minute you open the door and step in you're surrounded by the smells and welcoming atmosphere. Saw couple steaks n fried onions grilling and knew immediately that's what I was ordering. So glad I did..just melted in my mouth!
The employees where nice, the food was decent. I got a steak sandwich on the special steak sandwich night, And got a plain jane steak sandwich. Steak and a buttered bun. Wasn't overly impressed with that. But its a fun atmosphere. Im sure if I had cared more they would have fixed my order. But I review as I see and get. So. . . Ill be back to see if we can boost the stars again sometime.

We had two outstanding steak sandwiches, 😋 wow. French fries were good. Very nice waitress, good price, will be back
Awesome fresh homemade pizza, pizza dough fresh shredded Mozzarella. They fresh cut steaks and ground beef every day. Wow what a diamond in the rough. Highly recommend, super friendly bartender and staff. We will definitely be back when we're in the area.
Food is excellent! Good atmosphere. Pleasant staff. We always sit at bar. Tables have hard benches which can be uncomfortable if sitting lengths of time.
