Wandered in after a last-day-of-summer at the beach and had a great meal Sunday night ! Enjoyed a tasty Red Wagon IPA recommended by Luke, the young man behind the bar who seemed knowledgeable about beer beyond his years. Then sat at a table and started dinner with the best calamari I've had in a long time. Squid so tender and fresh tasting. Dinner was the thick, perfectly prepared, dijon-crusted pork chop. My wife had the Jameson braised short ribs - falling off the bone tender and full of flavor. (I didn't just take her word for it. I helped myself to quite a bit.) Each came with it's own tasty version of 'kicked-up' mashed potatos. Our server Kim (?) was on-point throughout dinner. She brought us a great red from the thoughtfully put together wine list. Plenty of solid choices from 'budget' to 'splurge a little'. Tavern ? Well, thanks to the handsome decor and cheerful young staff it's warm, inviting, friendly - all you would hope for in the best sense from a tavern. But the menu has been elevated well beyond 'tavern' expectations by a talented chef. The food is beautifully prepared and presented, without being at all fussy. This did not look, run or taste like a restaurant that's only been open for two weeks. The bar, floor and kitchen operated very smoothly. This was a 30+ minute drive from home that we will gladly do again, and again. Congratulations !

Tonight I had the distinct pleasure of dining at Henneghans Tavern: a new culinary gem recently opened in Point Lookout. The ambience at Henneghans is the perfect combination of neighborhood bar in the front room and high end bisro in the dining room. The service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive and our server Jackie was pleasant and very professional. Executive chef Nicol has put together a menu that is a wonderful combination of fine dining and traditional comfort food that offers dining options for just about every guest. I, and another member of our party enjoyed her amazing New England clam chowder that was a perfect combination of just the right amount of clams and potatoes with a subtle suggestion of smokiness. The crab encrusted salmon, partnered with the lemon risotto was delicious. Our dining companions found their baked clam and autumn salad appetizer and herbed chicken partnered with mushroom risotto and dijon pork chop paired with colcannon entres equally pleasing. For desert we were fortunate enough to sample chef Chris' off the menu, homemade chocolate ice cream topped by a toasted marshmallow. The subtle addition of chocolate chips and nuts to the ice cream made this combo reminiscent of smores...yum! We also split a lovely apple/pear tart that was housed in a perfect crust. All in all, this was a truly delightful dining experience. Kudos to all!

Always a good comfort food place. A great starter is the crispy artichoke hearts with the lemon aioli. I love the French Dip Sandwich with a side of tater tots. Service is friendly and food is served quickly.

My friend and I came here before a concert at Jones beach and were seated promptly and had a very nice waitress. We had some phenomenal appetizers. We tried the filet sliders (out of this world), the crispy artichokes w/lemon aioli (I could seriously drink that stuff it was so delicious) and the burrata w/fried zucchini. I cannot stress enough how yummy the food was. The manager, Shana, should be teaching restaurant management somewhere because she is truly grade A. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Visiting again and there was some mixup that caused an incredibly long wait for our food at a time when they were. less-than-full. Food was good and they took care of us, credited our bill, but it seemed as if the waitress was avoiding us after we complained about the long delay in our meals arriving. In any case, given our previous good experiences, we will likely go back sometime.

Had a late lunch here and it’s an absolute gem. Food is excellent and the Bright Eyes on tap is a perfect balance to the meal

For a meeting of three long time friends, Hennigans was agreed upon. The hostess sat us in the dining area and immediately I loved the linen table cloth and napkins while the fireplace set the ambiance. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. We ordered fried cauliflower as our appetizer. It came hot with 2 dipping sauces. It was delicious and disappeared quickly! For a "farm to table" dining experience we all ordered the same dish!! The Veggie Bowl- Shallots, butternut squash, brussel sprouts, broccoli, spinach, sweet potatoes, chick pea, cripsy kale, rice pilaf, vegetable broth. I left off the shallots and added a scrumptious portion of salmon which turned out to be an excellent choice. My table mates were just as delighted! Our mid week get together did not include alcohal. Our bill with a generous tip came to $40 per person. I'm looking forward to going back!
