Have loved this place for almost 11 years. Great service, food, and atmosphere. Take out or eat in... you'll not be disappointed. I will miss it when I move away.
Wonderful food and great service. The food was so incredible. And our server was so nice. A friend was going today and took another friend with him. Best Chinese food in Pittsburgh PA. Go and try it. You will love it. Very clean and flavorful food. No MSG, or high sodium. Most Chinese restaurants say that and I still wake up the next day with puffy eyes. NOT AT CHAN'S TEA HOUSE!!!!! Just go!!!!

We go here every New Year's as a tradition...food is fresh and made with high quality ingredients. And the mustard is SUPER hot!

Very Good Midwest Chinese place.. I found the place by accident, and stopped in to get the standard fried rice. I have been back four times since, have gotten the shrimp fried rice every time, and some other generic chinese food item.
I really really like the place. It is not your average store front Chinese place that has a few chairs and ratty tables, the screaming child in a crib behind the counter, and greasy horrible food that makes you wonder why you keep trying to get food at Chinese places in plazas. You know the place. They all have that same two sided color menu on a shiny sheet of paper, all the same items, and it all greasy and terrible.
This place is an actual sit down restaurant. It is NOT dark and / or dingy like the other review states, must be talking about some other Chan's Tea House... Anyways, it is also not the kind of Chinese food you will find in say, San Francisco or L.A> or New York. It is very typically mid-western Chinese. It looks like something from the 1950's or 60's. Very retro looking.
And the food is excellent. To me. Now, I have eaten Chinese food that I assume folks are writing about when they say "real" Chinese food. Since I have been in China. This is not it. You cannot get steamed jellyfish and pigs ears here.
What you do get, is very well prepared food, that tastes like what you got when you were a kid, and went to your favorite Chinese restaurant with your family. It is always busy for dinner, a good sign, and the food comes out quickly, and very hot.
And, for me the most important thing, the hot mustard is house hot mustard that will lift off the top of your head. I love the stuff. Exquisitely hot!
And, the food is not greasy by American Chinese food standards. And, I love the fried rice. It is well seasoned, has plenty of meat, and has bean sprouts in it. Eat here, you won't be disappointed, as long as you don't want something like ox-knuckle soup or pig intestines in broth.
Then again, who knows? I have been to a few Chinese places that hide the "real" food from the round-eyes, you have to know how to ask for it. Maybe I will try that next...
Best Chinese I ever had there's no words to describe how pleased I am with this restaurant.. every thing is so good I never had a bad meal..definitely recommend it to anybody who's looking for good and affordable Chinese food!
Don't let the strip mall exterior fool you. This place is as good a Chinese restaurant as anywhere in the city. The atmosphere, service, food and prices are top notch. It's a hidden gem and one of the best kept secrets north of Pittsburgh.
A community treasure, nestled away in the hidden corners of the old west view plaza. A meal Chans tea house will be one that you won't soon regret. Simply put.. I freakin love it and their crab rangoons are delicious.
Friendly staff! They even had a Kpop event at the restaurant to foster community! So much fun! Boba tea is delicious!!!
Wow, it is an impressive nice place to eat, relax and enjoy great meals. The General Tso’s fried rice is very tasty and delicious. You would love it as much as I do. Trust and believe please!!!
Quite delicious Amazing Chicken and Amazing Tofu! Very pleasant service for take out and a wonderful dinner when I got it home. First time here and I will be a regular for sure! Wonderful all the way around ! Highly recommend !!
Love it. Very quaint and welcoming atmosphere. My best friend used to dine here in the 90s with her grandparents and was always a favorite ❤️ Last year, we decided to make Chan’s Tea House an annual tradition every year when she visits from out out of town. Delicious food and wonderful service. The Bubble Tea is such a bonus!! We will return.
First time I have ordered from here, the food was great very fresh and large portion size. Staff were friendly and polite.

Chans has been my favorite go to for years now. Their general Tso’s chicken is in my opinion the best around. I believe ownership has changed in recent years (not 100% sure) but even after my more recent times there I was still very happy with the experience. The staff is also always very polite & courteous. And the dining area has a great relaxing atmosphere. I’ve taken friends, family, & dates here lol. All around a great place.
Good food, reasonable prices, good portion sizes coupled with an extremely helpful staff make this a good place for lunch or dinner.
The avocado cheese wontons are super good. I dont think I have seen them like that before. The egg drop soup is also a little different, it was mushroom.
I came in for lunch so the place was pretty quiet but still have about 5 tables. Wonderful service, my waitress was super sweet.
