Really great beer that is brewed onsite. They have awesome flavors and variety! There isn't much food selection, but that's not their focus. Definitely worth a try, especially the back deck.
Just What Lebo Needed. Nice little brew pub tucked away next to Luma in Mt. Lebanon. Nice interior lay out with a modest amount of seating, no tables. Large black board announces the available beers, and they have a very good selection. I started with a very good German Kolsch, called Cobblestone. Nice malt body with a little sweetness and the right hop bite. I thought it was some what under carbonated. Next I had the Roadie, a IPA. My favorite (I'm a hop head). Excellent, with a lot of bitterness. New beers are constantly being produced and another black board lets you know which ones will be coming up. Snack selection is limited, but well thought out. Home made beer nuts, local jerky, cheese board, sliders, chile. I had the cheese board (see pic). A little skimpy for $12, but good. On Wednesday they usually have some special activity. Lately they've been tapping a cast conditioned beer that has had some spice or fruit macerating in it for 2 weeks. It is sort of a first come first serve since the cast is only good for that night. Great place, I will certainly be back.
The black IPA is fantastic as well as the brown ale. Glad an awesome brew pub is so close by. I think the price is worth it for the quality and freshness, keep up the good work.
Not Bad. I stopped in last Wednesday. This is a small place but nice inside. The bar is made from reclaimed barn wood. They had 8 beers on tap. The 3 I had, Roadie IPA, Tumbleweed Brown Ale and Keystone Common, were very good. The food selection is very limited and really the only thing holding this place back from becoming a great spot.
First Visit Ups and Downs. I went to Hitchhiker for the first time on a Thurs Evening and the place was pretty crowded, which is nice to see. The beer was decent, but they were out of all the beers that I wanted to try, Black IPA, Roadie IPA, etc.. The tap system seemed to be a little dysfunctional, as well, not pouring consistently and some just barely dripping out of the tap. For a place that serves beer only, wouldn't you want to invest in a state of the art tap system??? I think they may have underestimated the market for their location, as I feel they could have gone a bit bigger. I guess financially you want to start small and grow from there? I feel that Hitchhiker has the capability to grow into a good local brand, but only if their management stays on top of things and really "runs" the business.
The beer was good, however, when I was there they teased us with a chalkboard full of brews and then only had 3 available. A friend had the hot dog meal which looked very good, but the unimpressive cheese plate lacked variety. Loved the outdoor patio!
The menu isn't extensive but it serves its purpose. The Korean style hot dogs are good as is the meat and cheese platter. It's a nice happy hour place.
Nice chill place with some good brews

A little Portland in Pittsburgh. Hitchhiker Brewing Company reminds me of a little pub (but Hitchhiker is better) in Portland called Coalition. Located on an active side street (Ankeny) in SE PDX Coalition manages to deliver big flavor in an intimate space. Hitchhiker does the same in Mt. Lebanon. The beers brewed by one of Pittsburgh's up and comers are all spectacular. The space isminimalist with an urban/rustic chic. Reclaimed barn wood, antique bulbs and 60's era draftsman stools give the place an understated vibe that would feel totally at home in PDX, Lawrenceville or Brooklyn. Hitchhiker is located in a really interesting crossroads location...Robert Johnson anyone.... The brewery sits at the intersection of Shady East and Castle Shannon. The view out the front window offers a cool perspective down Shady E to the Uptown business district (~5m walk from main drag). It should also be mentioned that downtown PGH residents can call this their hometown brewery too b/c two T stops (Poplar and MTL Stations) serve Hitchhiker. There is even a bike rack available for two wheelers. Ample street parking and if you are lucky enough to live near this gem...Mt. Lebanon is famous for its walkable nature = sidewalks everywhere! There is a great patio off the backside and garden seating on the side. Should be one of the best 'beer gardens' in town! Such a cool cool cool location!
The food is offered in a small plate format which is just fine. I look forward to a revolving list of choices with this format as the options are endless. Cheese/Meat boards, locally sourced sausages and pretzels were found on the bar when I was visiting. Nice.
This place is a brewery. The beer is some of the best I have had in Pittsburgh. It is on par with Roundabout and EEBC and that is saying a lot b/c those gents are top of the game nationally. This is the little brewery that can and does! Very excited to see what beers they churn out over the coming months.
Take a train, walk, cycle or drive to Hitchhiker as soon as you can. This is one Hitchhiker that is totally safe to pick up:)
Amazing beer selection. Bottle Service, Double Bottle Service, Bain of Existence, & Throwback are my personal favorites.
The atmosphere is chill, family friendly with card games available for us to play as a family. The bartenders are always nice and knowledgeable of the beers on tap.
Creative flavor profiles; inviting local atmosphere; a bit on the home brew side of the spectrum, but the potential to become top craft is evident. I look forward to seeing this place's brews evolve.
Really enjoyed this place! Nice set up. While small there are a lot of tables outdoor. 3 for $13 flights. Beer was great. Food was delicious and very affordable. Tacos 3 for $9.. Hummus with pita for like $5. The pickled green beans that came with the hummus were incredible! Staff was friendly. So glad we found this place.
Hitchhiker is the best for meeting your friends and having some great beer! They have food trucks sometimes on the weekends and trivia on Wednesdays. I love hanging out there and I love taking their beer to go 🙂
Amazing beer selection, great bartenders and small bites. They do not have a kitchen but you can get things like tacos, chips and salsa, cheese /meat tray, and local jerkey. They also have LEONA'S ICE CREAM SANDWICHES!
If you want to get cans when they release (big releases are on Saturdays) expect a line!
Stoped there on the way on a Friday night had some drink with hubby . Got to witness the sanitation procedure. It’s clean let me tell you Covid and germ eliminated for sure .
The other location is a lot more spacious, but the beer is the same and just as awesome here. Top notch not-very-sour-sours. Really good stouts, although sometimes lacking in body. IPA can be awesome or mediocre, but never wrong, just personal preference.
Nice cool "adult" type chill Brewery... Staff was pleasant & welcoming. Selection is great! Thursday Ten Dollar Flights -- Great deal! I need that Lemon, Orange & Blueberry allLllLlLLllll the time! The games are a nice touch to the atmosphere. Nothing like a competitive game of UNO!
Really enjoyed our time here. The beer was amazing. Had the summer stout, OMG. Sat on the back deck. Great day.
Tasty delicious beer. The food truck looked fun. Advertised as Korean korn dogs.
