My favourite breakfast haunt in Pittsburgh.
Grab a large pot of Steel Cut Oats (with berries and nuts) plus your choice of coffee. Then settle back to people-watch as the city wakes up.
Staff are superb.
Got this sandwich from work and was excited they already had a vegan option. it didn’t come with the cheese, but i actually preferred that because i don’t love fake cheeses. The slaw was good and the buffalo falafel was pretty interesting. It’s nice to know there are more plant based options by my office. It seemed easy to order and everything was right on our bulk order for work colleagues which is always a plus. Yum!
The positive: Everything is made in house, unique flavor combinations, and friendly service. If you are a fan of third-wave coffee or specialty coffee, they serve Counter Culture and that style of brewing on a La Marzocco. I can recommend the turkey sandwich for sure and this amazing peanut butter bacon cookie (gluten-free for those who need to know.)
The negative: it is pricey and if are coming in a group, not much seating.
It may be expensive but it is the highest quality. Its popularity is well warranted.
Small but super friendly place with DELICIOUS sandwich cookies. The staff are really welcoming and kind, too. Highly recommend.
This place is amazing. The vegetarian sandwich is always delicious. The side dishes are complex, layered flavors and a total steal at the price. And their baked goods are perfect. The buttercream is real buttercream, not some crisco atrocity. They make all the sandwiches to order, so it can take a while, but you can call ahead. The sides, quiche, etc. are all ready to go. Definitely one of the best lunch spots downtown.
Contrary to the name, not a warm and fuzzy place with its industrial vibe. But friendly service, good coffee and lots of vegetarian options make this a good stop.
I tried again and it was worth the visit. Great service, fantastic food. Their morning egg sandwich is a beast!
Wonderful find! Needed a cup of tea and something light for an early breakfast. Didn’t have much hope of finding well prepared, locally sourced and house made flavorful fare, but this place had all of those and more. Pittsburgh Breakfast tea from Squirrel Hill’s Blue Monkey (like English Brekkie, natch), a delicious bowl of house made granola topped with fresh berries and bottomed with Greek yogurt. Really friendly staff and a chill vibe. Thanks for a little bit of heaven, Bluebird!
Very yummy coffee. Wish I would have tried some of the baked goods they looked delightful. I stuck with a classic egg sandwich which was pretty good. The coffee beans were very high quality. The workers were extremely friendly. Such warm vibes!!!:)
Cuban Sammich - Yes Please! New to working in the area and went searching for a good sandwich. Their take on the cubano is excellent. I will be going back to check out the rest of their menu.
