A family member took me here while I was visiting - LOVED IT! The vibe was great and the food was even better. I loved the big portion sizes and the friendly staff. I will definitely be paying Pamela's a visit next time I'm in town.
Great tasting breakfast! Definitely recommend the chorizo special! Only down side of this place is that they don't poach their eggs.
Service was just ok.
Simply the Best. Pamela's has the best pancakes. period. The Lyonnaise potatoes are amazing as well. I wish I knew how to make these at home kinda good. The eggs are always prepared right and the corn beef and swiss omelete is a must try. Just go. eat. enjoy. It's that simple.
Undisputed queen of crepes pancakes, lyonnaise potatoes. There is a reason the President loves these pancakes and why just about every local Pamela's is packed...
Love at First Bite. Only been there once and took the advice of 'spooners and Yelpers and hit two grand slams: Pancrepes (with strawberries) and their Lyonnaise potatoes. A home run for me was my surprise, the corned beef omelette.
Best Pancakes I've Ever Eaten.. The "Crepe Style Pancakes" absolutely blew my mind. If you're looking for a good breakfast, head to Pam's. Actually, if you're just looking for a good meal - go to Pam's.
Pan Cakes. I love there pan cakes. The workers are friendly.
Great new venue, same great food. Pamela's new building in Squirrel Hill is very nice. I always eat on the patio when it's not freezing out. The service here has always been good and attentive. Try the tex mex omelet and the lyonnaise potatoes and if you're in a sweet mood the pancakes are of course to die for. It's hard to say which is better: Deluca's or Pamela's (since they have this unspoken rivalry), but I'd have to give the edge to Pamela's.
Good food but claustrophobic venue. There are a bunch of Pamela's locations, but this is the one closest to family we were visiting in Squirrel Hill. They are apparently an "institution" in Pittsburgh, and it was certainly an experience, especially for breakfast. The tables are so small and so jammed together, you might be happier if you simply leave your elbows at home. The grub is not bad, though. The corned beef hash (which they don't really do properly here in the South) was very good, as were the blueberry pancakes. My wife was very happy with her French Toast, made with whole wheat raisin bread. Be warned, though: They don't take plastic!
Good but Greasy. The atmosphere here is very cute and fun, but it's not for the claustrophobic! It is very crammed, but that kind of adds to the character of the place. I've never had problems hearing the people I'm with, so it's not too crowded to be comfortable. Their hot-cakes are famous for a reason. Try them. I've had the chocolate banana and the strawberry. I think the strawberry are much, much better, but they are both very good. I'm also in love with their home-fries, which are smothered in cheese and onions - yummy! The only complaint is that they are extremely busy and there is usually a wait out the door... and the food is really greasy. The hot-cakes are delish, but thin and still very greasy. The home-fries are beyond greasy but taste oh-so-amazing. Go a little bit later if you want to hang around and take your time without being rude to the people waiting out the door. I don't like to be rushed, so I usually pop in after noon.
Wonderful breakfast with outdoor seating. Hopeful they will bring back dishes and abandon paper plates and paper cups. 😉
All in all, a great first experience as a visitor to Pittsburgh.
Cute chain with a few locations in the Pittsburgh area. Fast service in a casual environment. Portions are really large and prices are great! Would recommend for breakfast if visiting the Squirrel Hill area.
I went to Pamela’s at around 9 AM on a Saturday and I just beat the crowd. The food is always served quickly (within 5-10 min). I ordered the banana walnut crepes and they were crispy and delicious!
I had the chorizo hash, it was pretty good. Scrambled eggs were done nicely... Fluffy. I will say that the service was not as good as usual. I sat for quite a while before being acknowledged (this is a seat yourself place) and no one came to refill my coffee until I asked for it.
I really enjoy Pamela's ....i wont let a one time thing influence me....yes I'll go back.
Since this was another recommend place in the burg, I really wasn't expecting much.ive had terrible luck with recommendations. Im glad to say that this place definitely held up to the hype..first the bad. No matter what location you think about going to , you need to get there crack of dawn early or you will be waiting a long time. So bring a snack lol. Parking is terrible. The good. The staff is excellent, crepes were on point ,and omelet was delicious. If you are willing to deal with a crowded place, waiting and the parking, then you will not be disappointed in the food.
Chocolate chip banana hotcakes are amazing. I get them every time. I'm also very fond of the lyonnaise potatoes. Absolutely worth visiting!
Strong pancakes. Almost like crepes. A good value for the money. This is a breakfast place worth the effort to go. I drive in from Monroeville when I am in town.
They have a couple gluten free options and we're willing to clean the grill for my gluten allergy.
Pamela's is a Pittsburgh classic. My husband and I used to come here to the one in Squirrel Hill almost every weekend when we were first dating, and after a while, one of the waitresses remembered us and our whole order. She still works there, four years later, and she always has such a positive and endless energy.
So, yes, there's always wait, but that's part of the experience, and not taking reservations means that it doesn't turn into some exclusive place. It's still just the neighborhood diner with the incredible hotcakes.
We thought that since it was known for pancakes the rest would just be ok, but their omelets were awesome!
