The restaurant was very clean and family-friendly
I called on a Friday afternoon for a reservation for a party of two, luckily they were able to squeeze us in at 7:45. Thank god I called! This unassuming neighborhood spot doesn't have more than 10-15 tables max, most of which are close to each other. I don't mind if my table is close to the people dining next to me, I actually prefer the energy it brings and I must say the vibe was spot on in Legends. It very much reminded me of an authentic neighborhood spot tucked away in NYC. You're served warm focaccia bread with olive oil to start which was a nice precursor to the meal. I chose the chicken parmigiana while my boyfriend had the gnocchi bolognese. Each entree came with a deliciously fresh salad, it is clear Legends does not skimp on the quality of the food being served. Our entrees were wonderful, I could tell my chicken had been made to order and breaded just before being cooked. We ended our meal with the apple pie which was garnished with what seemed to be amazing home made whipped cream. Service was good, you can tell it's a group effort which is fine by me. I will absolutely be back for more!
Legends of the North Shore is one of the best Italian restaurants you are going to find in Pittsburgh. Every item on the menu is delicious. It always comes out hot and fast. The staff is friendly and the prices are adequate. The only reason this doesn't get a rating of 5.0 is because the place is super tight. You are definitely making friends with the people at the next table. If Legends were in a bigger place this would be an 11 on the 10 scale!
What a find!! My friend and I found this place based on reviews and were very pleased. Our server was so pleasant and really made us feel like we were the only ones that mattered. Everything was made to order or homemade. Our meals...Blackened Shrimp over Penne with Portabella Mushrooms was amazing, Gnocci Bolognese was good...typical gnocci.
We also had coffee and a piece of Coconut Cream Pie which was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Thanks for a great experience and we'll be back!
Nice VDay Dinner & BYOB A +. Had a very nice Valentine Days dinner. The place is rather small and crowded, a little noisy, so not really romantic but a very good meal and very good service. There was a special menu for VDay. We started with the Beans and Green and Italian sausage. Tasty, delicious, the sausage really added some great flavor. We split two wonderful dinners. A Veal arribiata and Scallops. Both cooked perfectly. Save room for some delicious homemade deserts.
Love the BYOB. We had a special bottle to try for VDay.
Good option for the Northside. A great little Italian inspired restaurant right next to AGH. Fresh italian dishes that surprised us with flavor. Small interior and friendly staff make you feel welcome. They offer daily specials. Fantastic desserts and complimentary homemade fudge was offered at the end of our meal. Blackened shrimp pasta was amazing! Mussels and shrimp linguine and spaghetti were also enjoyed during our visit. Just go and enjoy!
YUM!. Great little place for both lunch and dinner. Lunch crowd is full of regulars, lots of up beat conversation and great service. At dinner excellent offerings from pork chops to seasonal ravioli and seafood. The best part is the BYOB option. Yes, there is a stem charge (even though the glasses are stemless) but you get to bring what ever you want! You can't beat that with the inflated prices for alcohol at restaurants. Have been enjoying meals for years and will keep returning for many more.
Best Italian in the City. Legends is a hidden gem. Located in the Deutschtown section of the Northside right next to Allegheny General Hospital. The rejuvenation of this great neighborhood can be evidenced in all the rehab/and new development projects in the area. Legends is smack dab in the middle of this transformation. It truly is the best Italian food in the city. Chef Dan's daily specials are what I most often get, and you can taste the passion and thought that goes into crafting his tasty creations. Also the Greens and beans appetizer is one of my favorites. Its BYOB which I love. You will not be disappointed.
SO CUTE. REALLY NEAT INSIDE
Great little place!. This restaurant is VERY small, so you need to make reservations... probably a couple days in advance. It is AWESOME though! the staff is super friendly and the food is great. I'm Italian, and our waitress reminded me of my gma; sweet with some sass! The food was perfect. We got an appetizer (muscles), entree's (chicken and veal parmesean) and obviously brought our own wine :) Try it out and I promise you will love it. The only negative is that you basically are sitting with the people next to you; thats how close the tables are. We did not mind at all, but this may not be the best place for a first date.
We stopped in here after a few samples over at Threadbare. Very small joint, classic Italian style and atmosphere. Place was packed house! We brought a bottle of cider for the table. Waitress was on top of our table, as well as every other table she had. Her suggestions were great and on point. We had the Burrata for appetizer which was delightful, sorry we forgot to take a pic! Eggplant Parm and Chicken Scallopini for main courses. Will definitely be back to try more!
We were visiting from out of town and found this place on Yelp. As fairly well-traveled Italians, we have pretty high standards when it comes to Italian food and we were BLOWN AWAY. First, we loved that it was BYOB. However, there is a $2.50 corkage fee per person. We started off with the Margherita appetizer which is a small pizza... it was delicious! We also got the lightest bread for the table with olive oil dipping sauce - yum. We have been to many Italian restaurants that do not serve a salad option with your entree but not Legends! We had the choice of a salad or the soup and we all opted for the salad which was the perfect size. For our dinners, we all ordered something different and there was not one scrap of food left. Definitely go hungry (like we did!) because the portions are fairly large. One pro tip- try the specials-it was to die for. Would 100% recommend and cannot wait to come back the next time we're in Pittsburgh!
I had lunch here for the first time today, got nervous about the rush and service but our waitress Stephanie didn't skip a beat! She was personable and fantastic!! I had a very enjoyable time and an amazing meal! Cannot wait to introduce more friends to this amazing gem!
Ordered the Turkey Panini sandwich. Was one of the best turkey sandwiches I've ever had! Lovely slices of turkey seared and with wonderful toppings and slightly sweet sauce all in a brioche (i think) bun. remarkable
Only downside, was I was told the soup salad or fries were included and not optional (for another 1.50). Got the wedding soup, and wasn't the best wedding soup I've ever had. Could've done without.
Overall, was a little pricey at 17$, but was a very good sandwich. I would have been happier without the soup at 15$ for something so good.
This casual restaurant serves Italian-American foods such as veal parmigiana, fettuccini alfredo, and cannolis.
I ordered dinner through their website, and the food was ready for pickup on time. The employee kindly greeted me and thanked me.
My favorite food was the penne blacked shrimp. My husband commented that the fried mozzarella, caesar salad, and meatball parm sandwich tasted OK.
I had an appointment at the hospital and Legends was suggested to my friend and I. We both got the beans and greens. Omg they were so delicious. I crave them . Nice little restaurant. A little bit cold in the restaurant but other than that everything was fantastic
Amazing atmosphere and food!!! unfortunately as we were enjoying our wine and appetizers and deciding what to order, we were told there was people waiting on the table and we should get our order in. We arrived at 6:30 and had to be gone by 8pm. Amazing place but we were not aware that our dinner would be rushed…
Wonderful! The food is excellent and the atmosphere is comfortable and friendly. It reminded us of a cozy trattoria in Italy. We can't wait to return. (And the spaghetti noodles tasted just like my grandmother's!)

My family of three came here on a whim on a Friday evening while visiting the area. While they were very busy, the staff made space for us at the counter. The food was delicious, the staff friendly, and it was cool for my daughter to get to see the chefs in the kitchen preparing the food. I’d definitely go back!
We love Legends. Have been coming here for at least 20 years and always enjoy it. And it continues to get better. All the servers are wonderful but we are partial to our friend Janet. Enjoy!
