I’ve been wanting to visit Gil’s for awhile, and it did not disappoint.
First off - this is one of the few restaurants in the valley that won’t freeze their patrons by pumping their A/C. The dining room was a very comfortable temperature.
2nd - they have a small and cute dog friendly patio.
The food was delicious, not too spicy - but the heat was still there. I had the red chile smothered beef sopapilla - it was the perfect way to end my week. As a native New Mexican - this place is legit. Plus, you can’t beat the prices - the quality you get for the price is top notch.
We will for sure visit again.

Quaint Mexican dive with odd hours, closed on the weekends and split open hours during the week as they are closed from 2-5pm. The food was good, staying with traditional New Mexico style of cooking, not your typical enchilada sauce here as to green or red sauce or salsa verde and salsa rojo. Try the christmas tree style burrito or chile relleno, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Excellent food served by quality folks. One of the best meals I’ve had in Phoenix. Wish I’d had space in the belly to try their sopaipilla
Welcome to New Mexico without leaving Phoenix. Small family-owned with a delicious assortment family-recipe foods. Patio dining with a view of a mountain is available. Really worth trying.
Wonderful little restaurant! The food is outstanding and very friendly service is appreciated. Make sure to try the Chile Relleno it is unbeatable! 🌶
I'm originally from California moved To Texas in 2001 where I met my wife who is originally from Espanola New Mexico. I love California Mexican my not Tex-Mex. Went to New Mex best food. Wife passed missed those dishes found Girls. Excellent. Mmmmm. Went back recently and still excellent. Waiter is outstanding at his job makes your visit relaxing and enjoyable.
Gil's has great food and excellent service! He even brought the food to our after wedding get together early 2016. I still get comments about how good the food was! We don't go out to eat often but eat here regularly.
Gils is a gem! Love this place. Make sure to call for reservations, especially on Monday nights.
If you're in Arizona, but need the authentic New Mexican food, Gil's is the absolute best. Friendly staff, and amazing food!
