I ate here for the first time today with my family. It was wonderful!!!! We got a piece of their special treat for their anniversary, the opera cake, and we wished we could have more it was so good. I had the chicken wrap sandwich off the lunch menu and everyone else had the lunch special, flautas. It was all great. I cannot recommend it highly enough just go and enjoy. I almost forgot dessert. Based on our server's recommendation we got the Black Forest Cake to share and also the Carrot Custard for dessert. Also highly recommended.
I booked a patio table At Gertrude’s and it was phenomenal! The service was on point and every drink and dish were methodically designed to reflect the local landscape. The dishes were lovingly prepared and the presentation was exquisite. I loved the atmosphere and I will definitely include this as part of my garden experience when I return.
Great for large groups! It's hard to find a great restaurant in Metro Phoenix for large parties. Table of 7 booked and great for brunch. Food and service were spectacular. Highly recommend! Great outside seating with heaters for brisk mornings, lots of seating inside.
We visited the Desert Botanical Garden on the second Tuesday of the month since it is free admission. We had a delicious dinner at Gertrude's. The Gertrude Burger with bacon was exceptional!
I was here last week. I got a green pepper burger and it tasted great even though it fell apart from all the moisture by the end. Still five stars because Esmeralda was one of the best waitresses I’ve ever had. Thanks for being so friendly and hospitable to this solo traveler!

The host was kind and squeezed me in, even though I didn’t have a reservation. He said I would only be able to have the table for an hour. I ordered a prickly pear margarita and a small caesar salad. The server was kind, but not too attentive, despite how empty the dining room was. He checked back with the ladies next to me several times, but walked right past me each time. I didn’t need anything, but it is nice to have them ask once. Ironically, the host was engaging & stopped to ask how my food was. It was a nice relaxing atmosphere after several hours of walking around the beautiful gardens. Presentation of food and beverage were beautiful.
Nice place. Love the outdoor seating. Service was slow, think they forgot about us. Once I reminded them they did pretty good. Good beer selection, great location. Just tell the front gate your dining at the restaurant. We had breakfast fried rice and the burger. Food was great. I like this place and I’d come again. I think earlier in the morning when it’s cool it would be perfect on the patio.
Beautiful patio! Fantastic date night or even girls' night out! Josh was amazing & definitely not hard on the eyes! I cannot believe I've lived in Phoenix for so long & have not been here. Definitely will return!
Pleasant surprise for a restaurant inside a popular attraction. Food was delicious and our server was a delight. The outdoor patio seating is comfortable and spacious
Walked around the Botanical Garden and decided to stop here for a cold beer. Atmosphere was fun bartenders were friendly, must be the amazing plant vibes. But had a good time overall only had one beer and left.🌵
I definitely have to say the service and food exceeded our expectations. Our server was attentative, and the quality of the food was top-notch. It is farm to table and table to farm. They really care about quality and being eco-friendly, as you might expect. Also, you have to check out the gardens afterward. We went to dinner in the evening and walked around as the sun was setting and cooling down outside.
The main dining room was nice, but the patio seems to be the best spot at the restaurant. I will say the food, ingredients, and how the chef prepared the meals were outstanding. Kudos to the chef. My wife's steak was probably one of the best we've had. My dish had the market fish, a sea bass, and it was also cooked nicely. Definitely recommend the elote fritters as well. They were kind of like an elevated hush puppy. The vegetable sides were also cooked perfectly.
The drinks were great and I really enjoyed and recommended the dragonfruit margarita. I don't think any of our drinks fell short. The only thing we didn't like too much was the banana cheesecake. It tasted like a basic cheesecake.
Overall, it was a great experience dining here, and I'm glad we explored the gardens afterward.
We went there with our friends from east coast and we had a great time there.
1. Location: inside Botanical garden close to the entrance. Parking is relatively easy. All self parking, no velvet, no shade. I wondered if you would need to pay the tickets for the botanic garden after dining in, the fact is, we'll, it's based on the honest system.
2. Service: our server Holder was professional and humble, he presented great patience and detailed knowledge to each dish.
3. Food: the egg Benedict was excellent except the pulled pork is a little bit too salty. The chicken salad was garden fresh with mild grilled chicken. The berry French toast was fluffy with fresh blackberries, strawberries and gooseberries. My advice, the French toast would taste the best when it’s still warm. We saved a portion for later and it all tasted like sugar afterwards. The fried rice was fine, not extraordinary. 4 stars for the food.
4. It offered a full bar, indoor dining and outdoor seating. At this time of the year(March), outdoor seating would be a better choice, with outstanding view of fun cactus surrounding around.
5. Reservations are highly recommended during peak seasons.
