This place is killing it, everything is so damn good. I've been working through their menu, and have yet to find anything that's not amazing.
I'm Cuban, and their Cuban sandwich is dead on point flavor wise. The cheese steak is amazing with the truffle whiz. The "Not so" breakfast sandwich is amazing. Their fries are the best on South St, hands down.
It's rare that you find a niche sandwich shop that caters to a gluten allergy. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable gluten free food.. I had a great steak sandwich and a super fun soda to wash down. I'll absolutely be back!
Tastes better than it looks!
To be blunt, the service here kind of sucks but the sandwich is great — probably the best chicken cheesesteak I've had around. Plus it came out fast. I would probably grab takeout here again, despite the surly staff and slight inconvenience of needing to order and pay online instead of being able to look at a physical menu and/or hand someone cash or a card.
Absolutely delicious! One of the best for sure. The meat was perfect, the bread was soft and the cheese was quality. Definitely recommend this place and I’ll be back.
I had Woodrow’s a little lower on my list, because I wanted something more traditional for my cheesesteak experience than truffle whiz and cherry pepper mayo. But wow, was I ever wrong! The combo of the homemade truffle whiz and cherry pepper mayo was creamy and rich, with a hint of both mushroom and a little spice. They turned out to be the absolute highlight of the sandwich!
Authentic Wiodrow's Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich was absolutely incredible! They use a truffle oil in the cheese sauce that makes their sandwiches divine. The sub was huge, enough for two. We truly enjoyed our cheesesteak sub.
This place is absolutely worth the trip! So thankful for Alex Delaney's video showcasing Woodrow's as the best place to get a cheese steak in Philly, otherwise we would've missed it. Look at all that whiz!

When in Philly – one simply must have a Philly cheese steak.
There are many places that advertise having them on the menu, or specialize in Cheesesteak to choose from.
We looked at the Philly Tourism map of best cheesesteak shops in town, and looked into which one we might try. We decided upon Woodrow’s due to its focus on just cheesesteak, good reviews, uniqueness, and their newness – they are a relatively new business.
This is a small hole in the wall shop, with a few tables along the wall.
You scan a QR code at the table, to place your order and then they deliver it to your table.
Take out is done the same way.
We went there for lunch and just ordered one sandwich and one order of fries to split between 2. The sandwich was delightful. Very tender meaty, juicy, and cheesy.
This was a very good cheesesteak sandwich, and if this is your first time in Philly and you can only have one – this is a really good one.
The price was very reasonable.
The only drawback to this experience was the QR code – as Canadians our cell phone didn’t have service to tap into the QR code. However, they did give us their wifi access so we could order, so it all worked out.
Very delicious philly cheesesteak, I highly recommend it over many other resturants. However, its not the traditional cheesesteak as it has truffle and other toppings.
The grilled chicken breast burger was good, a healthier option for those who want to balance lol. The resturant is relatively mid size.
Cheesesteak is amazing here. Salads are great too! Grilled chicken sandwich has good flavour but meat was a little dry. Sauce and toppings were so good you barely noticed though
I had a few hours to kill and I was looking for a spot that was supposed to have some of the best sandwiches in Philly. Woodrow's certainly lived up to that reputation. You're going to use a QR code to order and there are limited tables, but the staff was friendly and efficient.
Quick business trip to Philly and needed to get a cheesesteak. Poured over online reviews and headed to Woodrows. Ordered the Whiz Wit...shaved ribeye, truffle whiz, cherry pepper mayo, caramelized onions...one of those transcendent bites where I simultaneously wanted to cry and maniacally laugh. I ate the whole thing and hibernated on the plane ride home dreaming of my next time in town.
