I recently visited McCrossen's Tavern in Philadelphia and had a decent experience overall. My friend and I ordered the French onion soup and the fried chicken sliders, and while they were okay, they didn't quite blow us away. However, the drinks were solid, and we enjoyed the cozy ambiance of the restaurant.
The highlight of our visit was the fact that we had a good time - the atmosphere was friendly and inviting, and it made for a nice night out. That said, I do have to mention that the service was a bit slow. While our server was friendly, it took a while for our food and drinks to arrive, and we found ourselves waiting longer than we would have liked.
Overall, I would recommend McCrossen's Tavern as a nice spot to hang out and have a drink, but the food and service could use some improvement. It's worth checking out if you're in the area, but keep in mind that you may have to be patient while you're there.
It’s a hit or miss sometimes with this place, but I’d say it’s definitely gotten better over the past few months. Went for New Years Eve and was pleasantly surprised by their absolutely delicious specials! I’m still dreaming about their lobster bisque!
My first time here. My boys and I were looking to have some wings and beer also b able to dine in! We found this place and walked in even though they were busy a gentleman who I think either was the owner or a manager came over and asked us if we were doing okay and we would prefer to sit in the next room which was much quieter and moved us and made sure we liked the table. He was awesome. Then we had max who was our server nice guy he made the night! We ordered french onion soup, arugula salad, chicken wings, French fries, chicken Philly steak, Philly steak, muscles in a white sauce. Everything was yummy and delish. Had a wonderful time with my boys. Great food good people. Definitely go back
Their wings are the best. I also like their mussels. Tried their brunch recently and we all enjoyed our meal.
After a full day of tourist activities, we were looking for a place to eat dinner. The online menu looked pretty good so we decided to go. Best decision ever! We got there and it was pretty lively inside. Seemed like lots of locals. Every one happy & chuckling. We sat at a high top inside but there was some outside seating available. Our server (David) was absolutely amazing. He gave us a run down of the menu & when I ordered a glass of Sauvignon blanc he recommended a blend which I was hesitant but OMG he was right!! We ordered the mushroom toasty to start and it was perfect. For dinner we got the shrimp & braised rib tacos also the braised rib diner with mashed & asparagus. It’s going to sound funny but the asparagus was cooked perfectly, the potatoes were great, the braised rib meat was out of this world. The tacos were just as great. In all my life this meal is in my top 5. I’ll be coming back to Philly just to eat here & hopefully have the pleasure of David being our server again. 10/10
My opinion of this place constantly changes; I’ve been here 100 times or more. This bar has among the best chicken wings in Philadelphia hands down. Staple bartender Steve is the bartender everyone dreams of, like Cheers but so much better. If you frequent here and get to know Steve, he’s top tier. Management has worked hard to supplement this busy bar with a strong new manager and support staff. Negatives are the speakers are absolutely blown and poorly placed and the staff tends to play outrageously loud dated music. Take music liberties from the bartenders so they can focus on mixology and replace the hardware. Take away is the owners and employees love their regular customers here and have a local element of local people you might miss elsewhere, just get them off the jukebox lol. Atmosphere would be five stars otherwise
This is the place. Best neighborhood bar and the food is stellar; comfort food done right! 10/10 would drink here again.
Ps- they also have a fireplace! So cozy.
Good atmosphere and food; perfect place to chill with friends while watching a game. 👍🏻
The staff was friendly and professional.
Some of nicest and kindest people I’ve met. A good tavern with a great atmosphere, chill vibes, and yummy eats/drinks. Nothing fancy in the best way - the kind of place where you can chill out, watch the game, and have a nice chat.
Amazing bar and delicious food.
We got:
-Mushroom flat bread
-mixed hot wings (SPICY AND CRISPY AND AMAZING)
-whipped ricotta
-cheesesteak
-came back and ordered a cheesesteak to go
Mixed drinks were great, huge beer selection.
Manhattan made perfectly.
