To clear up any confusion (because I faced it too) Mt. Fuji Inn the restaurant is technically closed, but they do take reservations. The Mai Tai Lounge is open however. The atmosphere is super old school and the drinks are really really good. There is no wifi of cell phone service at all so dont go there expecting it.
Owned and operated by the Kaya family for decades... Jack and Alice Kaya overcame challenges brought on them stemming back to WWII and built one of Omahas landmarks.
The second generation and even third generation followed them with hard work, great food and amazing care and relationships with their patrons.
This restaurant will live on in the fondest memories of thousands. We thank you all for experiences that will never be equalled!
Love.. Tom & Anna Myers
Classic cheese. Open until ten-ish during the week. Later on weekends. Hours are discretionary. If the sign's on, stop by. You'll delight in the tacky decor (black velvet nudes) and the strong drinks.
Mt. Fuji is now closed but visit the Mai Tai lounge downstairs. Awesome people, fantastic drinks and a guaranteed fun time. If you have never been here, isn't it time you tried it? Try a Mai Tai or a Navy Grog!
EDIT:
The bar is officially closed as of October 28th 2017.
The restaurant is closed but, the bar downstairs is still open!! They still serve apitzers in the bar. The drinks are as tasty and potent as ever.
Drinks in The Mai Tai lounge under Mt. Fuji are just like you remember them ... Egg Rolls and Prawns are great ... YUM
A truly unique experience. After 50 years, the restaurant (and the Mai Tai Lounge) have closed for good.
Old school 70's charm. Cool bartenders and Fishbowl. Strong drinks you are warned
First time being here. It will not be my last. Drinks were great and well priced.
Awesome little lounge, with THE BEST tropical drinks!
