Overall excellent food. I had the pulled pork and smoked sausage, with smoked Mac and cheese and onion rings. This came served with toast and cornbread. The pulled pork was flavorful, if a bit dry. The sweet sauce more than made up for this though! Just a small amount of sauce made the pork quite delicious. The smoked sausage was perfect, no complaints at all. Flavorful, moist, smoky flavored. Perfection. Max and cheese was likewise delicious. Very cheesy and had a light smoky taste to it that paired well with the BBQ pork and sausage. Onion rings left a bit to be desired. They were seasoned well, and probably would have been good but they seemed simultaneously slightly over cooked but also were not hot when they arrived. The cornbread and toast was cornbread and toast. Nothing to really say besides that! The cornbread was quite good though, and a good consistency!

Went in for lunch at smoking Jay's. Everything was amazing. Had a half rack of pork ribs cooked to perfection. The smoked Mac was outstanding, the okra was delightful. and the cornbread was the kind you only get in your dreams. Jackie Jay was a joy. This man loves what he does, and you can see it written on his face. If you want real local BBQ, take a trip to South O and dine with Jay. You will not be disappointed!!!

Great service, great food. Food did not take long to get to the table. Friendly atmosphere. Picture is half a rack of beef ribs with baked beans, potato salad, corn bread and toast. I recommend you give them a try.

Place was pretty good. Very friendly, and nice staff. Recommend the baked beans, especially if you like them on the saucy side.

We ordered the Combination platter for $23.99. Came with almost 1 of everything. Smoked chicken, pulled pork, pork rib, sausage, riblet, beef brisket, 2 pieces of toast (its slightly sweet), 2 pieces of corn bread, 2 sides and a drink. We upgraded the one side for fried okra for a $1. We enjoyed everything. I will say I have a preference for smoky flavor. Felt that the beef brisket was exceptional, tender with fat. Lots of places tend to have lean brisket, but I like the fat. The pork rib also stood out along with the riblet. Everything was fall off the bone tender. The underwhelming thing was the smoked chicken which didn't have as much smoked flavor. It was a large piece that we received, all white meat. It was still moist enough, and if you added the sauce it was fine. The beef rib though good, was not exceptional. I can understand why it wasn't included in the combo platter, as its not a necessary item. The potatoes are a good choice for sides. The corn bread was better than a lot of other places I've been to in Omaha. We ended up ordering 3 extra orders to take home (At $1.50 for 2 pieces, felt very affordable). For dessert we tried their corn bread pudding. IT is pretty much bread pudding made with corn bread. It tasted good. I could see this being at a hipster restaurant for $7 for that serving, but here it was $2.99. I will say its a no frills environment. Some of the seats had pieces torn out of it. I thought the pricing was good for what you got. The service was exceptionally polite, friendly and helpful. Very talkative and communicative of their offering. If you have questions, the man in the front was happy to answer them. My friend from Kansas City enjoyed it. (I'm from Canada so my taste buds might not be as primed as others?) For the drink we got root beer. He said it was a Minnesota one. Had a nice flavor. Slight medicinal flavoring like Virgil's, but not nearly as strong. Also not as syrupy sweet as the 1919 that Famous Dave's in Kansas City usually serves. They also make their own BBQ sauce in house. One thing to note. There wasn't much use of salt. I find a lot of restaurants tend to use that to enhance the flavor. There was little to no salt on most of the meat items we had. If you feel it is lacking, you might want to add salt and you'll notice a difference. It is GREAT for people who are concerned with their sodium levels or who just prefer to salt things to their own taste.

Tried the Philly cheese steak and was enamored by their signature cheese sauce.. and the MAC AND CHEESE is PHENOMENAL. Homemade and cheesy to perfection. My only criticism is I wish the BBQ platter my gf ordered offered more than one small cup of their sauce. Big pulled pork dinner needs sauce to match portions. I should have just asked the staff cuz the lady inside was friendly as could be. Definitely returning!!

Really close to the Omaha Zoo and way better then the food they have there...Juicy and smoky barbecue yummy! We got the heart attack burger, fries and a drink special for 13.99 ! Also got the fried Oreos! which is a really nice dessert to find. Tried the corn bread and wasn’t impressed but then again probably better with the butter and honey they forgot to give.
