When you find one of the ode rare small town approach eateries in the middle of the city, you keep going back. That's what I've found here.
The owner is the one cooking your food and shaking your hand afterwards... You will be treated like a regular even if it is your very first time.
The food is fantastic... Not fancy, but fantastic! One of those places where there is no need to hide behind elaborate presentations and mountains of toppings. The simplistic approach allows for the food to speak for itself. And it sure does!
I recommend getting a 3 piece plate with rice and black beans. If it's your first time, you can't go wrong with that!
Been coming here for years. Excellent! The owner is helpful and that chicken is juicy, flavorful and delightful. I have been telling people about this place forever. You're missing out if you don't try it.
Love this place. Been eating here for years but since not on my side of town, don't eat here often enough. Healthy, delicious, reasonably priced; one of the top 2 best healthy restaurants in OKC in my opinion! Must try the flame broiled chicken!

Consistency and full of flavor. Every time I come to town I have to stop and have a meal or two. Fred is always friendly his food is good. If you want healthy food that taste great, this is the place.
Better for your arteries!. If you're into clean eating, this is a good place to go.
Keep in mind that it is clean food. Don't walk in expecting greasy tex-mex flavors; you won't find them here. It's all Spanish-style and the salsa is the perfect thing to give your food a little pizzazz.
Best chicken in town. Flame grilled, citrus marinated chicken plus tasty, healthy and unique side dishes. The prices are amazing, the owner is great and always there when I come in. It's fantastic. I only wish it wasn't so out of the way. When it was on 23rd, I would go out of my way to eat here every time I was in OKC.

Absolutely the best prepared best tasting Chicken anywhere. The seasoning is phenomenal. Meticulously cooked by his special procedures and spices I've been a fan for 20 years. Get one or two more pieces than you think. And his sides are very tasty too. Real home grilled food you can get a reasonable prices. Go there. Enjoy.

Stopped in with a friend and was surprised by the very laid back and relaxing atmosphere. I went with the Ranchero burrito with a side of rice. The burrito had a good flavor and taste.

If I write a review it's because it was very bad or very good.
THIS restaurant isn't fancy and doesn't stand out much against the other restaurants near by. But let me tell you. We had just finished last minute Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve. Everything was either shut down already or was very close to locking their doors. And we were starving! We passed a small chain of restaurants
And EL POLLO CHULO caught our eye with the only lights on in the small strip. The owner was closing down despite what the open sign indicated. We entered to inquire if they were closed or in fact open.
The owner who looked as if he had worked his longest day ever, stood from where he sat to greet us with a menu and welcomed us in. Encouraged us to order despite his grill being shut down and cold all of the food was put away. I felt guilty even ordering.
He reassured me it was okay. So we ordered several items and he said he would bring it to my car. This man was extremely gracious and too kind to be troubled. Even though he never acted like it was any trouble at all. It was a breath of fresh air. When he brought our food out he told us the food would be the we've ever eaten.
I can honestly say that he was not lying. Try this place!! You will only pay for absolute contentment a happy full belly and hospitality.

This food is beyond amazing! It hits the spot every time. Nothing like it in the state! They also have an edmond location I believe! The owner is such a proud hard worker and his food reflects it. Thank you for being here! We love you.
This is a great place to eat, I have eaten here at least a dozen times, the chicken is fantastic. But I can't give them 5 stars because the hours are wrong on the website!!! We drive all the way from Moore only to find out the they have changed their hours and close at 7 PM now.
My wife and I discovered this place and Fred in 2015 and ate there as much as 3 times a week for nearly 4 years. Quit sometime before the coof in 2019 and returned today. Fred was not there but it may be better than it was. Chicken and sides were all remarkably good. All the best in Edmond, Fred.
I can happily say that for the past year and few months I’ve been here in Oklahoma City, Pollo Chulo has been my go to place! The food is healthy and very delicious. The chicken is to die for! It’s nicely seasoned and cooked very well.
Not only is the food phenomenal but the service alone is amazing and the lady is very friendly!

Always my favorite delicious char broiled chicken. He is so welcoming and friendly all the time. He remember my order all the time and treats me like family! Also budget-friendly,$20 for date night for 2 persons for healthier choice, don’t compare Fred’s chicken with any of fast food restaurants, this one is different.
