This is a wonderful venue for tea lovers and novices alike! John and Bae are kind, knowledgeable and warm hosts/educators. I love the unique selection of delicious teas, the yummy snacks and the great company that this tea shop inevitably provides. :)

Groups of cute elementary kids doing their homework (and combining all their coins to share a huge cup of herbal tea)...a sweet grandmother playing cards with her little grandson...senior members of the community sitting back and philosophizing as they sip their cups...
and all in the midst of the most perfect feng shui, including gorgeous lighting.
(not to mention, the tea here is DAMN good!)
I feel like every community-gathering place should be like this. Feels like a yummy, welcoming, glorious slice of home. <3
I don't know how to put this any other way, but this is one of the most special places I have ever been too. This might seem a little extreme for a tea shop; however, Sophie's Cuppa Tea is a sanctuary of peace and serenity. The owners, Bei and John, are two of the most incredible people I have ever met and they also serve the best tea I have ever had. I can promise everyone that they will not be disappointed if they come to this shop. In addition to the shop, if you are looking for your next vacation, ask them about their yearly China Tea Trip. It is a once in a life time opportunity (although I plan on going every year!). See photos below :). BTW: They have amazing snacks and salads (fresh and organic).
The best tea I’ve ever had in my life. Everything about this place is made with a lot of love. The owners are very passionate about what they do and that is clearly reflected into their business. The shop is very cozy, peaceful and cute. Love it!
This place is very special. Can feel the passion and effort the owners put on tea. If anyone is looking for a place for a really good cup of tea and want to learn something about Chinese tea culture, this is the place to go! Owners are very friendly and have rich knowledge about Chinese tea.
I've been coming here for years and never tire of it! The owners are incredibly kind and do everything to ensure all customers receive VIP attention. Stepping through the door of this beautifully curated spot in Montclair, is essentially stepping into another world, a world of beautiful art, rare porcelain, and even finer teas.
Lovingly tended by John and Sophie, Tea masters, who have a deep knowledge tea based on regular travel to Fujian as well as other ancient tea sources in China, I was treated to simply the best large glass of simply Wu Long, (Their spelling, I have no knowledge whatsoever of Mandarin) that I've ever had, and was also treated to a rare sight. I have seen tea wheels but none larger than the one I was presented with At Cuppa Tea, easily 30 inches in diameter,, with a specially made tea wheel stand you will only find here, because they had it made especially for their tea wheels.
The decor and mood in the place was an absolute oasis of calm and tranquility in a ever-maddening world, (Even in Montclair) and is now on my to-do list every time I am in the neighborhood.
I'd try the Wu Long, however, their green tea selection, ( I am a Jasmine pearl fanatic) is simply a marvel of tea curation, and John, was a gracious and knowledgeable host, with an affable manner sometimes missing in high level tea establishments, and I ended up leaving with a rare Jasmine, as well as a vastly improved attitude, as will you when you visit John and Sophie's Cuppa Tea in Montclair. Treat yourself to some relaxation!
One of the best places in the bay to get tea, they have so many options and the owners will help you narrow down the tea you will like the best. Incredible service and amazing tea. Worth a trip to Montclair alone.
Amazing single source tea shop with fabulous owner and staff that help you decide what fabulous tea to try. The selection is outstanding and there is plenty of tables to enjoy an amazing cup.
Great teas. Nice selection of snacks and while I didn't try it they also have ice cream. Ambience is wonderful and when we were there Sunday morning had acoustic guitar player adding to relaxed setting.
