The fact that you can grab a quick bento box outside of the store is a big win for this restaurant. It usually gets packed inside for lunch so its great to know that you can get a bento box on the go.

Katsu-curry is the ultimate, decadent, Japanese comfort food. Katsu is a breaded, deep-fried piece of meat (usually pork), which is crisped to perfection. An ideal Katsu is crunchy on the outside whilst the meat on the inside is tender and melts in your mouth. It is served with oodles of thinly shredded cabbage and tonkatsu sauce.

Katsu Hama makes some killer Katsu!! Skip everything else the menu has to offer, just order the Katsu. We tried a few appetizers like the cream croquette and the tamago, which were really awful.

The best of their offerings is the Kurobata Pork Katsu though their regular pork tenderloin and even the chicken ones were really good.

I love the combination of Katsu with curry and the finely shredded cabbage, which they give you tons of, it adds great crunch to this already delicious dish.

Healthy comfort Japanese food, great miso veggie soup, and cabbage salad with light dressing. Dining here is a nice break from Fifth Ave. shopping.

Beautiful restraint. The cooking here feels effortless and simple. Chicken skewers and bare bones basics of japanese cuisine are served here, and downstairs they have the comfort foods of old world japanese cuisine. I prefer the upstairs cuisine. Try everything in this tiny eatery

Dear Food Diary, Katsu-hama has the juiciest pork cutlets I've tasted in midtown. Actually, dare I say in the city? The place is long and narrow, pass through the takeout sushi stand on your left, lift up the high hanging japanese curtains... and say hell

It is fairly easy to find decent tonkatsu dishes around New York City, most restaurants serving Japanese food have them, and do them well. Honestly, there is not much to breading and frying a pork cutlet I suppose. But to find the best in town, go to one of two Katsu-Hama locations in Midtown. Upon entering the 47th Street location, walk past the small udon bar and into the back restaurant. The place can get packed with business lunchers, but coming after 2pm or for dinner finds the place very mellow and easy. In preparation of your katsu meal, they give you miso soup, a small portion of pickles, and a grinding bowl with sesame seeds (above) to make your own sauce with the table's portion of tonkatsu sauce (below). Prices are on the rise, but the quality still remains intact. The simplest of meals, but most authentic way to enjoy the dish, is the hire katsu ($19, below). A beautiful wedge of breaded pork that is served with a pile of cabbage, which you should

As much as we love Buffalo, we acknowledge its culinary omissions: compared with 15 years ago, the city and suburbs have declined in authentic - underscore authentic - Japanese and Chinese foods, and these days, it's difficult to find a properly made bowl

Cream croquette and takoyaki is must. Pork cutlet tastes savory. The panko is crunchy and not oily.

Comparing this to katsu from Asia, it's not amazing. But it is still relatively good though and decently priced. The normal pork loin was a bit marbled but the breading was good. I'd recommend going with the berkshire. Green tea ice cream with green tea cheesecake was fantastic though!

Good quality of food. This is more home style Japanese food. Loved cold soba and tempura.

Great lunch boxes! There's a counter at the door so you can quickly choose one, pay and go. Dining in is also nice
