Recently hosted a larger dinner party (~20 people) at Chelsea Ristorante and the experience was fantastic. The owner (Jimmy) and staff (Donny) were very communicative leading up to the event. They were available to discuss the menu and drink package options. When deciding the menu, the restaurant had a few different family style options that we could pick from which we could add to or modify which was very kind of them. Donny checked in the day before to confirm the menu and headcount.
The dinner was fantastic and everyone in the party left satisfied. Food was delicious and the service was above and beyond to say the least! Highlights of the meal were the penne vodka, the veal Marsala, and the grilled salmon. The appetizer bread to start was also very tasty.
After being seated, the Chelsea Ristorante team made sure everyone had drinks and appetizers were served promptly. The pace of the rest of the meal was great. After this experience, I’ll be back on my own and would definitely recommend this spot for a casual meal or for a large party.
We came in for a quick, spontaneous dinner - awesome service, I even had my chair pulled out for me! Food was delicious and served quickly, and waiters were happily humming along with the music as they stood by. Very relaxing dining experience!
Hey, my girl and I was looking for something to eat and passed by this restaurant, figured we give it a shot. Now I must say the presentation is simple and nothing to right home about. However, talk about flavor of the chicken dish was amazing. At first, I was like "what's this." I could have made this and that first bite took my perception completely away.
Tender seasoned chicken with mushrooms and the mustard sauce. I put it on the potato and broccoli rabe. My girl loved the egg plant and that was great from what I tasted of hers. Broccoli rabe was good and the drinks were on point.
Desert to die for 😁.
I had the pleasure of speaking with some older ladies too sitting at the table next to us. Great conversation, however we are both mad Duke loss, her son used to play for them.
Great time and good service, definitely will be back.
Decent pasta and tasty deserts. I had the Tagliatelle Bolognese, which was full of sauce and tasted fresh. The pasta came with cheese on it ahead of time, so if you can't eat cheese, make sure to ask for it without.
I liked how the dessert menu was a picture menu. Getting to see the yummy treats ahead of time definitely helps and I'm sure makes them get more dessert sales.
Slow service getting the check, but not usual for Italian restaurants in the area. Will stop by again and try their pizzas.
Chelsea Ristorante Italiano impresses with its prime location in the heart of Chelsea, offering a charming, authentic Italian ambiance.
The service stands out for its attentiveness and warmth, making each dining experience memorable. I highly recommend it for those seeking a genuine Italian experience in a vibrant setting.
I am glad to had been in that restaurant. They were so nice to me when I ask if they offer a dessert for people who celebrate birthdays, they say of course and it is for free! They gave a big plate with a small dessert of your choice with a candle and they write " Happy Birthday" such a great touch! And for free!
Food was delicious, right size portions, everything fresh and good cooked.
If you have around Chelsea don't doubt to go.
We were in the area to attend a Loadbang ensemble performance at Tenri Cultural. I chose Chelsea Ristorante for proximity and because it was ‘neighborhood’ Italian In NYC. Our daughter’s guests were from CA and MI and she wanted them to experience ‘real’ Italian. We all chose pasta- because traffic at the tunnel ate 45 mins. of our 2 hour dinner time. All of our dishes were excellent examples of perfectly balanced flavors, steaming hot, and just-right portion Italian. Our out-of-towners understood why our daughter wanted to raise their bar for Good Italian food - goal achieved. Other than a delicious meal, they considerately held our table (yes I called to tell them we were stuck in the tunnel), served us and set us free in an hour to make our show; our waiter was charming and efficient enough to give us time for desert as well! Plus, the menu is reasonably priced - 5 people/cocktails/dinners/a few desserts to share = $255 tax included. PS to the reviewer who groused about street parking… out of towners should never street park in NYC (use the garages) there are several $ only a 5-7 minute walk away (there is one $$$ down the street). We parked at 12th & 6th for 4 hours and only paid $18 (which may have even been the overnight rate).
Great food and service. We ordered 2 small brick oven pizzas for about $50. Next time, I'll try the pasta.
This is a true gem of a restaurant downtown. Leo makes the best pizza margherita I've ever had, and the friendly staff are eager to please. Put this on your list if you're in town!
Tell me you're in New York without telling me you're in New York ---> authentic Italian eatery on 8th avenue few steps from west village and Uniom Square.
Right in the real heart of the city, Chelsea Ristorante is a flagship of Manhattan, a local spot, family owned business with the warmest and most caring staff.
All the pastas, risotto and menu specials are just a delight. The after meal drinks are the must! And the foccacia that comes before the food... just from heaven.
Ideal for a business lunch, holiday parties, romantic dinner date, family and friends... couples, solo with a book (or not), groups, lunch Or dinner.
Just a wonderful neighborhood authentic New York experience
