Great value lunch special, sushi and sashimi combo with miso soup. Generous thick slices of sashimi. The California rolls did look a little sad though. The fish were of good quality, service was fine, the food took a while, but overall still good value for lunch.

Great... but.... This was some fine sushi. The quality is spectacular, fine service, upscale decor. All of that being said I would go next door to Haru. A little less expensive and little more creative. But this is a fine alternative... if for instance Haru isn't open for lunch... who knew?

Very attractive restaurant, good Japanese food that is not as flavorful as some of the more down-home or country-style Japanese restaurants in the city, but definitely offers a pleasant night out, esp. for couples or after work diners
Wonderful. Lobster spring rolls are amazing!! the house salad is very fresh with delicious dressing. we were eating during lunch and they had a very reasonably price combo of you choose 3 rolls. we had salmon/avocado, yellowtail, and spicy tuna. all three were very fresh tasting and good. the yellowtail was my most favorite. nice patio seating. Cant wait to go back here.

Top notch with excellent prices. Sushi was outstanding - Japanese and horse mackerel about as good as I have ever had; fresh and delicious. Rolls like the crunchy salmon and spicy tuna were imaginative and well prepared. Service was attentive and efficient. Black sesame and green tea ice cream were also excellent. Starter salad of 6 different types of seaweed was quite imaginative; had never seen the preparation before.
Three course dinner, with a drink, was around $40-$50 per person. This is a BARGAIN in NYC for this quality of sushi. (Has just knocked Sushi of Gari down on my list given that its prices are nearly double Momoya, and certainly not "twice" as good).
Very nice minimalist decor. Tempura very well prepared. Teriaki and sushi were well presented. Accomodating service. We had Sunday brunch there sitting outside. When the other local restaurants were jammed with people waiting for a traditional brunch, this was an uncrowded, good quality alternative.
And sadly, Momoya isn't cutting it. I can eat sushi with cheaper prices and better taste all over the city. Sadly, I can't recommend this place.
We are long-time New Yorkers who no longer live here but visit often and this is definitely one thing I miss. Excellent quality sushi that doesn’t break the bank. Everything we had was delicious but the crispy rice was a highlight. I got one of the lunch specials (ladies’ lunch - dumb name but whatever) and it was SO good. If I still lived here this would definitely be in my rotation!
What a delicious experience - The rolls that we got were amazing and flavorful, expertly prepared. The edamame was salted perfectly. Just before we left we tried a delicious sake' as well, provided to us by the bartender - it was amazing. We will definitely visit again.
Went with a large group of friends and nice to split various dishes. Really enjoyed the sushi and crispy rice. Some of the options wouldn’t get such pork shumi or cheesesteak sticks. Overall service was okay had some confusion with the dishes but they did come out quickly. Recommend for sushi as pretty atmosphere
I had the black cod over a roll. The cod was scrumptious. The roll very non-descript and truthfully, boring. I also had edamame, which was large enough to serve a family of three. It was very tasty. Service was good. I was there, however, at 5:30pm. A bit overpriced. Ambience was lovely.
Full disclosure: I just got back from Japan, so I’m undoubtedly spoiled.
The sushi was reasonable, but I've had fresher. It's never a good look for a sushi restaurant when there is the smell of fish wafting about.
I ordered salmon with avocado roll, and it did not look like salmon. Either the salmon was gray or it was tuna. But I was with people and I didn't want to argue.
Service was very pleasant and the atmosphere was good. Most of the sushi tasted good, but there seemed to be a very strong smell or taste to the octopus. That was a little concerning it should not have a smell.
The overall experience was okay, but I would be a little more concerned about the freshness. Although the other fish it did taste very good and did not smell.
If the price was more reasonable I would have given them a pass, but the prices for sushi in my opinion were higher than I've seen in this neighborhood. My usual sushi place is at least five or six dollars cheaper per person. So at these elevated prices, I would expect the best of everything and that's not what I got.
The atmosphere here is really nice and chill.
We were greeted upon arrival and ordered a few snacks. In hopes of catching a quick bite to eat while waiting on our 530pm appointment. Our waitress was friendly but sooo slow and kept forgetting stuff, I had to request spicy mayo 4 times. It also took a while for our shrimp / vegetable tempura to come out. All the food/ snacks were good & I would visit again with more time to dine.
The food was great! Our server, Kim, was also very sweet and attentive! Will def go back when we have a chance!
We each had their three roll combo lunch special. Everything was really fresh and delicious. I'll definitely be back here!
Really liked the sushi, expect for the red tuna that was a bit gummy. All in all enjoyed this restaurant.
