Have never had a bad meal or experience here. Staff is always on point food is simple but always well prepared and tasty. this place. Wish they delivered to Westchester.
Fantastic. Great authentic Dominican food! The best strategy here is to just order a bunch of things family style so you can try it all. Everything I had here, friend plantains, yucca, chicken, beans, ect. was all tasty and delicious. The service is good and the food is delicious and affordable. Give this place a try.
Dominican Food Heaven. My cousin married into a Dominican family and she introduced me to Dominican food. Wow, it was amazing. Several years ago I was in Washington Heights and I asked around for the best Dominican restaurant and everyone I asked said that El Malecon was the best and they were right.
The Mofongo was perfection on a plate. The rotisserie chicken was very tender and tasty. If there is a perfect way to make rice and beans, they have figured it out at El Malecon. I think the Sangria really topped off the meal. My dining partner and I agree that this was a wonderful experience.
Oh, and just a couple of short blocks from the train.
You can never go wrong with El Malecón. A place for pick up a good meal to take home. The tres leches in excellent.
CHICKEN. The roasted chicken is outstanding. The chicken soup is for Gods. Considering the price (cheap) this place is great. Tho, you don't wanna go there for a romantic date - its latin american atmosphere is not made for that.
Yum yum good. Malecón restaurant had the best mofongo I've tried in the area buy far. The service was great considering my guest arrived later than I did( parking is tough in the area). I also enjoyed their sangria which had lots of yummy fruit. The menu has many choices and I found the prices affordable.
Best Dominican Food in NYC, seriously.. If you are looking for authentic Dominican food, look no further, El Malecon is the place to be. Enjoy rice and beans with succulent chicken, the absolutely delicious mashed plantain dish Mofongo, or a variety of other Dominican specialties at a very affordable price.
There's no shortage of Dominican restaurants in the Heights, but none seems to come close to El Malecon's quality.
Good bang for the buck.. Really like the white rice, beans and roasted chicken with "maduros" (fried ripe plantains). Four people can eat for less than $25. Kind of hard to find a parking space then again this is NYC.
Best Chicken in Town. How do they do it? Maybe inject the bird with lime juice? No matter what, this is the finest around; and cheap. If you live in the Heights, delivery is lightning swift. If you don't, take a trip. The dining room is an experience in itself. A++
12/15/23 met up with a friend that recommended this Dominican restaurant because were were hungry . As you enter you smell and aromas of this amazing food. it does get busy and there May be a little wait to get food, but it’s all worth it!!! Genesis our waitress was excellent. She was very friendly, attentive and professional. The food freaking great!!!!!! Must recommend and return.
Takes a while to get seated and the whole place feels chaotic but the food is good and almost makes up for it. Half chicken is the move with delicious skin. Churrasco is a large serving and can feed 2-3, but is cooked nearly well done. Overall not a bad spot.
Nice place in the neighborhood. Feels and looks like a diner, but they serve Caribbean food. The mango smoothie was so refreshing! Lots of staff around cleaning, cooking, and helping guests. Big meal portions! Everything had great flavor.
It was a warm Wednesday afternoon in Washington Heights, and the air was filled with the delicious aromas of Dominican cuisine. I had just met up with my cousins for lunch at Malecon, a popular Dominican restaurant that was a favorite of our late aunt.
We were greeted by a friendly hostess who seated us at a table in the back of the restaurant. The dining room was brightly lit and decorated with colorful murals of Dominican landscapes. The atmosphere was lively and convivial, and we could see that many of the customers were local families and friends.
Our server, a young woman, came over to take our drink orders from a wide selection of beer and local drinks, like sour sop smoothie. Once we had our drinks, we were ready to order our food. Maria recommended the Pollo Asado (or Chicken Rotisserie), which is one of Malecon's most popular dishes. We also ordered the Mofongo con Chicharonnes, Yuca, and Platanos.
The food arrived quickly and it looked and smelled amazing. The Pollo Asado was perfectly cooked, with crispy skin and juicy meat. The Mofongo con Chicharonnes was a delicious combination of mashed plantains, fried pork rinds, and garlic. The Yuca and Platanos were also perfectly cooked and seasoned.
We all dug in and savored every bite. The food was absolutely delicious, and we could taste the love and care that went into preparing it. As we ate, we reminisced about our aunt and all the wonderful times we had spent together at Malecon. We shared stories and laughed until our sides hurt.
We left Malecon feeling happy and content. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. It was the perfect place to celebrate our family and to remember our aunt.
Thank you, Malecon, for making us feel like we were part of the Washington Heights community. We will definitely be back soon.
5 star everything Food was delicious. If you haven't gone do so. You won't be disappointed. The food was so delicious. Amazing!!!!!
Malecon Bar and Restaurant is a great place for a meal. The service is friendly and prompt. Food good across a wide range of options. Some confusion with waitstaff on what may contain gluten. Prices make a meal affordable. Food freshly prepared but came pretty quickly.
Haven't been here in years but this spot still hittin the same definitely recommended 👌
I have been here once before at a previous trip the NYC. This was a must come back stop. Flavorful chicken, tasty rice, plantains and delicious beans.
AMAZING. The food portions are huge and everything was tasty. Even ordered in Spanish and the waiter was super patient with me 😂
No joke. The prices for the portions are NOT a joke. Worth every penny.
Sooooo goood. Love this restaurant! Best mofongo and plantains ever!
