Excellent and enthusiastic service and incredible Indian food. Out of the dozens of Indian restaurants I've tried in Manhattan, I would rate this one the highest. YUM
My absolute favorite Indian food restaurant! I will always visit when in town!
Without a doubt the Best Indian Restaurant in NYC that I have found. The food is excellent, the staff is professional and there is an emphasis on detail. I strongly recommend this establishment and always enjoy my time here when I visit.

One of the best indian food restaurant in manhattan. They also have special recipes that you can not find in any other indian restaurants.
Amazing Indian food😋 Great Service 👍🏼
Nice Indian resturant in Manhattan We had one Lunch with my other colleagues. In fact this was my second time cisiting the place. They prepare very delicious food. Space is also very nice. Service is also very good. We liked the food. I should recommend others too. Thanks Dawat.
We think of Dawat as our default choice when we want to go to an Indian restaurant as it's comfortable, not terribly far and the food is terrific. On occasion I've called it a neighborhood restaurant.....which it is but that's not fair to them. Dawat is a terrific restaurant and worth the trip even if you don't live in the neighborhood.
Dawat never disappoints! Chicken, shrimp or lamb dishes are well seasoned and delicious but honestly I could just eat the bread and I'd be happy. The Naan E-Dawat is a nice sweet & savory surprise and my all time favorite Poori, deep fried puffed bread, is a wonderful indulgence.
I am a native New Yorker and will keep to the directness of how we are known to be :)
Food: Good! I love Indian food, so I usually get the "I'd like to eat it the way you'd prepare it on your house" :) But, I had a very bland dish!?! How can that happen with Indian food? I had the Chicken Jal Freezie and the Vegetable Samosa.
Drinks: Good. Standard.
Space: Is very spacious, really elegant and swank making it good for date nights or get-togethers. You get to watch the chef preparing the food from a glass enclosed kitchen area which make the dining experience cool and different.
Service: The staff is very professional, courteous and attentive.
My friends recommended Dawat to me years ago and I have loved it ever since. Good Indian food. Good service. We had nan, onion kulcha and loved the bread choices as well.
Updating my review after another terrific lunch. Dawat's lunch special is both generously portioned and delicious. I had the chef's special, which offers a choice between chicken korma and lamb rogan josh. I had the lamb — tender, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. An astounding assortment of sides accompanied the main to complete the meal: a side salad, big, fluffy naan, vege pulao, saag paneer, black daal, crackers and cilantro chutney/salsa/dip, and creamy rice pudding — all of it absolutely delicious. There was so much food; each side was the same size as the main course. There was plenty of food to satisfy two complete meals, each very satisfying and filling. Service was delightfully accommodating.
This is the best Indian restaurant in Manhattan. The amazing food, sophisticated atmosphere and super-polite waitstaff keep me coming back even though it is well out of my way.
