Great local restaurant
Stopped in on the recommendation from McFaddons another local establishment
The antipasto and calamari were delish. Our group of 4 each ordered a glass of wine and the waiter suggested a carafe which gave us more for less $$
Piano player made for nice background entertainment
Super nice staff and owner comes to your table to chat
Highly recommended this to all who enjoy good food for a reasonable price and wonderful setting
Delicious food. Excellent location. The piano music is a wonderful addition to the atmosphere of this charming restaurant.
Love!
Only been once and I want to go returning. Pleasant staff, friendly party-goers, just helpful.
DJ was wonderful, he performed all the right tunes at the right time.
Prices for joyful hour were excellent also, can't complain not one bit about this spot.
TL;DR: Really great vibes, but mediocre food.
Came here with a group of 3 on a Saturday night - had a reservation so no issues getting a table. The restaurant and bar area are cozy and rustic, really making you feel at home. The live piano player was FANTASTIC, perfectly toeing the line of laid back & upbeat, but never overbearing. Piano was a little loud at our table, but we were fairly close.
The food, however, was fairly average. I got the shrimp scampi and the shrimp was over cooked, but the sauce was tasty and the pasta itself was just fine. The other diners with me had similar feelings about their plates. Good portions though.
I would definitely return, but probably for drinks and to enjoy the music than for dinner.
Cool spot! First time in a piano bar. Went with a couple of friends who also loves to sing. Drinks and vibe were great! People at the bar are also music lovers. People singing along. The piano man, James Scheider, was awesome! Very cool experience!
Great food and very quick, loved it as needed some dinner with others and was good and affordable. My chicken had egg whites and little breading and was delicious with a side of pasta. Great appetisers with the bread and fresh mozzarella and tomato with the tiramisu being tasty as well. Overall 9/10
Was recommended to try this place out by a local while I visited the city on a trip- what a great spot to try wonderful Italian while listening to classic piano ballads all evening long. This is the kind of place you see in the movies, the small Italian place on the street corner that the couple goes to on a date. The wait staff were all extremely friendly, and eager to assist you. The food was classic Italian and served hot and quick. I would absolutely come back next time I’m in the city. I would like to sit at the piano bar so I could talk to the singer like I saw several people do during my visit.
Food was quick, place was clean and reasonably priced. Gluten free pasta available.
I got the shrimp scampi and it was a bit more bland and overcooked than I liked. My sister had the Marsala and loved it.
Food is probably the worst I’ve had in NYC. I’ve been to Mimi’s close to 10 times and every time I’m so disappointed how bad the food is. The bread is the best thing. We keep coming back because the atmosphere is one of the best in the city. Live piano music and really fun locals. I will keep going back but I think I’m done ordering food there
Solid service. Attentive waiters. Bolognese sauce was good. We had chicken Francese and shrimp scampi both were good. TERRIFIC atmosphere. Piano player was singing Billy Joel songs and people sung along!
I love this place for the atmosphere and the staff. Traditional Italian vibe with lot of regulars always coming here. It’s always fun every night. The food is good and the best is they serve until very late. We ate at 3 am on Saturday :) Don’t miss Chicken delicious, very interesting show and very different. The bartender is awesome. My favorites are lasagna, hot antipasto, minestrone and cappuccino.
Friends of ours know the owner and they treated us very well. They even gave us a round of drinks on the house. Nice having a live piano player in the background. Already booked a B-day celebration there. Called to make the ressie and happened to speak to the owner who remembered me and booked a nice table in front of the piano. So refreshing to find a nice neighborhood, goto!
Food was comforting, tasty, and everything you want in a no-frills Italian restaurant. That said, go into it knowing that the service will be mediocre. Will still be back!
