I eat at Jacob's at least once a month and I love it. For the people complaining that their food is bland, not everyone wants salty and over seasoned food; you have the option to add salt. Their food is excellent, I love the smothered pork chops, beef ribs, oxtail, rice and peas, okra, collards, mac and cheese, etc, etc. The price is by the pound, you get enough food for about 15 bucks.
The best thing about Jacobs is the food. Every dish has its own taste and flavor. Im going to be a regular customer there. And they were jamming last night with the music.
This Soul Food spot in Harlem is a total gem! The staff is super welcoming, the prices won't empty your wallet, and the food is simply amazing. Plus, the place is really clean.
Service:
The staff is super friendly and makes you feel welcome as soon as you walk in.
Pricing:
Great prices for awesome food. You're getting a lot of bang for your buck here.
Food Quality:
The food is just incredible. Flavors are on point, and it tastes like someone's grandma is running the kitchen.
Cleanliness:
The place is clean as a whistle, so you can focus on enjoying your meal.
All in all, if you're in Harlem and craving some top-notch Soul Food, you've got to check this place out. You won't regret it!
The buffet style food was delicious. The collard greens, mac and cheese, oxtails, fried chicken, fruits, salads, pasta, ribs, and more were laid out very appetizing. However, be aware that they do weigh your plate. That will affect the cost.
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Harlem. Heck, in all of New York. The food is crazy good and affordable, the staff is friendly and there’s always nice music on, usually soul or gospel, sometimes live music. The Jamaican chicken wings are some of my favorite, and the sweet yam. But just everything is good. At Jacobs, they know how to put the soul in soulfood!
Best soul food experience.
Even better than expected, a very long variety of food

In town for today and decided to check this place out. Lets just say I was not disappointed 😀
Great food, authentic Caribbean dishes,
friendly staff, overall great customer service!
I will definitely come back here.
Omg! Everything was fantastic. The oxtails were seasoned perfectly but could have been more tender. The mac was tasty. For my vegetables I picked the lima beans & cabbage. They were both delicious. I would prefer my cabbage cut smaller tho. Overall I loved the experience and it was affordable.
Warning : THERES PEAS IN THE POTATO SALAD.
Soul food in buffet style with many yummy food.
I had salmon they made excellent, collard greens and asparagus also avocado salad, but my family tried almost everything… my daughter a meat fan she had BBQ rib, pepper steak and beef on the bones.
My son and hubby pick up fired chicken and soft baked chicken with mac and cheese mashed potato and greens too. I seen they had oxtail, turkey, many different salad, fruits, banana bread pudding for sweets,

Good option for the ones that doesn't like fast food. Several beggars outside store waiting for the people going out to ask something.
There are days when everything goes wrong. You plan a surprise, it fails. You try to go to a restaurant, it’s packed. You try another one, it’s closed… 😭
When this happens to me I tend to get stuck and become unable to make a decision.
That Sunday, in Harlem, NYC, I was in that kind of mood so my wife picked a restaurant for us, Jacob Soul Food Restaurant, based on its reviews on Google.
Jacob Soul Food is not a regular restaurant: there’s no service, no menu, no private table… 🤔 It’s like a self-service school restaurant. You help yourself with want you want to eat and then you pay according to the total weight of what you’ve picked.
To be honnest, with my mood, it felt nice to be able to eat a bit of everything that looked good to me at that moment. It was not the best food of my life (not bad either, eh) but it was comforting 😌
The atmosphere of the restaurant was comforting too: there was some live music and people even were dancing 🕺🏿💃🏻
Plus we ate a lot for $15, which is not common in NYC, nowadays.
If you want to have the best food, that’s not the place. But if you want to feel good, go ahead!
