The entrance door gives no hint of the world inside. The crowds, the ambience, the old church architecture with stained glass windows were all a big surprise.
We had iced tea, Pinot noir wine, traditional pizza with basil, mushroom, pepperoni topping. The size, despite being a 6-piece small pizza was big for us,but most delicious.

Bom serviço, pizza boa mas que não se destaca de outras tantas. Preço ligeiramente caro para a refeição. Em relação a quantidade, muito bem servido.

Excellent pizza! There aren't many true authentic NY style pizza restaurants in the tourist areas, but this one of the best. Coal fired ovens make some of the best crispy thin crust pizza you'll find. This is usually one of my first stops any time I go to NY city. They don't do slices, though (which is not a bad thing....you always know your pizza was freshly made). Enjoy!

The pizzas are tremendous! Size of a US Manhole, a lot of sustenance at the cost, the main thing I would propose is ensure the cheddar on the pizzas are mozzarella since it's appears they utilize a ricotta kind of cheddar which is alright however ends up dull and filling the further through the pizzas you get. Tip: on the off chance that you arrange an expansive that is sufficient to share between 2 or 3.

Great buzzing ambiance, muscular friendly service (NY style) and of course flying saucer pizzas landing hot, spicy and deliciously on top of your table for a friendly convivial share with friends over with some good wine.  Did It! Do It!

We came to New York eager to try some authentic NYC pizza, and decided on John's. They didn't disappoint. Authentic style pizza's, really well cooked thin bases, and minimal toppings was what we were hoping for, and was exactly what we got. We didn't expect the garlic rolls and pizza dipping sauce to be so good but they were SOOO insanely yum. Great service, and a great dinner all round.

We visited John's of Times Square on the advice of my Sister in law, who visits when she's in New York City. The restaurant is housed in an old church, with four brick pizza ovens installed on the back wall on two floors. There is a nice bar up front when you walk in, and a nice large dining room in the rear of the building. We started with some locally made lager beers on tap and a big, beautiful antipasti salad. The drinks and salad were served promptly by our server. The salad was crisp and delicious, with lovely little pinwheels of Soppressata and mozzarella. The house-made dressing was superb... Tangy and tossed perfectly into the salad. Mains were two large pizzas...One was pepperoni, mushrooms and (according to my bride) "REALLY GOOD sun-dried tomatoes". My pie was meatballs and pepperoni. Both pizzas had crispy, flavorful crusts, robust marinara sauce and ample toppings. Do yourself a favor and make sure you get over to John's of Times Square, but don't try to pop in for a slice.. Only whole pies are sold here 😁

Amazing pizza and great atmosphere. The whole place looked stunning, with an amazing feeling. The staff were average and friendly. I got a salad which was good. It was fresh and refreshing, with a bit of spice which gave a nice contrast to the salad. The dressing was acidic and added great depth to the overall flavor. The pizza was amazing. The actual pizza was crispy but also soft. It gave an initial crunch, but was soft on the inside and the cheese mixed well with the tomatoes and basil. The crust was alright, not amazing but not horrible. Pretty average, maybe slightly above. It was too crunchy, more like a Olive Garden bread stick than a crust but it was still good. Overall amazing food and environment.

Who would think that in the middle of Times Square there would be a great pizza place in an old converted church. Well here it is. The owners renovated an old tabernacle church and are serving the best coal fired pizza. Everything is made to order so plan on sitting for awhile as you watch the pizza makers make your pie. Trust me… the pizza is the best and this is my favorite pizza in NYC.

The history of this place is what's so captivating. I highly recommend to go read about it on their website. The service here makes you feel like an important customer. Even when you order take out. They are fast and efficient. Ample, ample room especially for NYC. The pizza is delicious. The traditional slice has a subtle sauce which works together with the cheese. They went a little to heavy on the basil for the Margherita but I still enjoyed it. Takeout comes with Parmesan and crushed pepper. And let me tell you, the best Parmesan and crushed pepper I've ever had. NO SLICES btw

Had to stop in here. Stopped in on a Friday night, busy as heck. I was able to get a seat at the bar. All I wanted was a pie. The service was fast, friendly and attentive. The atmosphere and interior was beautiful. Absolutely stunning on the. The menu looked great but I was there for the pie. Straight up pie. The pizza was very very good. Love the lightly char crust and flavorful sauce. High quality cheese and pepperonis. John's of Bleeker is better. But this is still ultra delicious pizza. Definitely go to this place! I will be back!

Good pizza. I would try to tone your visit during an off hour. Like a brunch or a linner time. It gets very busy. The building used to be an old church. It's very cool inside.

The pizza was very good. It was not too soft or floury, the crust was so good, I usually don’t eat crust. Service was good, nothing extraordinary, but it is a busy place. It had a great atmosphere and inside a beautiful building. Don’t let the outside appearance fool you. I think it’s a must when in NYC.

Beautiful place! Only my third time ever. Good tasting pizza, but a little too much flop IMO. We asked for "thin and crispy" and server said "that's the only way we make em", but still came out too soft if you ask me. Calamari was very good. Good service overall. Host was fantastic, better than server. Pricey of course because of location. Beers are totally overpriced. Pizza toppings overpriced. Still, worth a visit at least once if visiting Times Square. I still prefer the Bleeker St. restaurant because the pies are crispier. I know technically they're not the same ownership because of the family split and lawsuits, but obviously there's a shared history and recipes. You say "whole pies", I say "no slices".

We came to John’s of Time Square right after the show, we were sited right away. We had the Margarita Pizza and the Mozzarella ricotta pizza it was excellent flavors where amazing and crust to perfection. We also had the Spanish salad and the dressing was great! The place inside is beautiful.

Apparently at one time John's on Bleecker and the John's on Broadway were part of the same store but they are separate now. Yet they use the same coal fire way of making their pizza. Went in for lunch on a late afternoon thurs. Not busy. Got seated right away. Great ambiance. Was at one time a church. Ordered a single Caesar salad that we shared. And one 6-slice half cheese/half pepperoni pie (they still charge full amount for a topping despite only having it on half the pie). The salad was phenomenal. Perhaps one of the best salads ever had. Fresh romaine lettuce Caesar dressing, croutons and parmesan. Incredible. I would have just come here for the salad. Pizza came out fairly quick, actually while we're still eating our salad. The pizza looked very similar to the pizza at John's on Bleeckers but didn't have the same flavor or char. This John's crust wasn't cooked long enough to get that classic New York char on the bottom. See pic. Cheese was flavorful but again not quite as good as the other John's. Pepperoni was excellent had a bit more spice. Despite these nitpick things the pizza overall was very good with Classic NY style flavor & texture. Overall I recommend stopping in and trying it out particularly if you're looking for a dining-in/ served experience. If you're looking for just a quick New York slice this isn't the place.
