An exquisite and unique experience. The place is stunning. High ceilings adorned with chandeliers and a beautiful bar at the entrance. The kitchen is open and you can the chefs preparing the dishes in such refinement and dedication.
The food presentation was splendid as each plate was a work of art. The taste of each dish is a story by itself. Very refined ingradients and blends joined with mastered culinary techniques.
Well done.

Le Cou Cou is one of the few French cuisine spots that I really enjoy in Soho in NYC. They have had great rabbit in the past, but I tried their lobster several days ago and I have to say it was one of the best seafood meals I've ever had. Compliments to the chef and waiters who provided excellent service and checked up on our party of 4 throughout the evening. He knew the menu from front to back and was even able to offer some really interesting insight into the wines that we were looking at. His suggestion of a red wine was on the mark. I would certainly recommend Le Cou Cou to not just those who enjoy a French dinner and atmosphere, but anyone who is looking for a delicious meal with excellent service.

Lovely ambiance with a higher end French bistro menu. Service was excellent from start to finish. A few ex Jean George NYC staff there, who really know what they’re doing. Loved it and will be back.

Stephen Starr’s Le Coucou had been on my “Want to Go” list since it opened earlier this year to rave reviews. I read nary a negative word about it. In fact according to myriad food writers, chef Daniel Rose offers spectacular food. How could I rest?. I headed downtown to the 11 Howard hotel in Soho with a friend to experience what all the fuss was about. The hard part was choosing from all the interesting offerings. We opted to each get one from each section and share.

When Mike and I were in Paris a few years back, Chef Daniel Rose’s Spring was a restaurant we were dying to dine at. But I guess it wasn’t meant to be as it was unfortunately fully booked during our visit. Fast forward several years and Chef Rose has partnered with restaurateur Stephen Starr to open up Le Coucou in New York.

On our anniversary, we decided to celebrate at the restaurant of our choice. As soon as we arrived, the staff warmly greeted us, ensuring that our special day would be nothing short of exceptional. The portion sizes may have been modest, but the quality of the food surpassed our expectations, leaving us completely satisfied. Not only was the cuisine delicious, but the ambiance of the restaurant was truly enchanting, boasting a beautiful setting that captivated our senses. The staff's meticulous attention to detail further enhanced our experience, making us feel like cherished guests throughout the evening. Without a doubt, our time spent at the restaurant was absolutely delightful.

everything was extremely good and the ambiance was excellent. Came here for my birthday and the service was quick and nice. The food was cooked perfectly and the appetizers were the main stairs. Especially the disguised escargots. The deserts were very nice as well. Perfect place for special occasion or a nice treat.

Everything was fantastic. The tuna starter and the beef main course were particular standouts and will live long in the memory. The wine recommended paired perfectly with the food we chose. Simply put one of the best meals I've eaten this year

I really enjoy the food and drink from Le Coucou. They have the best young chicken I ever had in my life. The lobster salad is great. The wine is also a good choice. Thank you for giving me a wonderful time for my birthday

A refined place for a special occasion meal. The rabbit (served 3 ways) was a great treat, and the hazelnut chocolate cake Marjolain was heavenly. The portions are quite small so you the very minimum you want to order for 2 are 2 cold apps, 1 hot app and 2 entrees. I didn't really enjoy the buckwheat fried eel and seafood gratin which was soaked in cream but my husband liked them. The service was attentive and a bit distant without being snobby- a perfect way to give people some privacy during their nice dinner time.

We had a very nice lunch at Le Coucou. My expectations were something around "elevated brasserie style" and I was indeed pleasantly surprised to come across some old-fashion bistrot dishes like "pâté en croûte", "vol-au-vent" or "baba au rhum". They were all solid, and by nature not chic or sophisticated. Some other dishes on the menu may have a creative twist in taste or presentation, but ours were just classic – yet enjoyable. The service was top-notch, punctuated by several little attentions for my husband's birthday. We had a table overlooking the kitchen, which we loved. We stayed until 3pm and we appreciated not feeling rushed to leave. Overall I assume most of the disappointed reviews may come from the promise of a Michelin "One star" experience. To me, the restaurant perfectly met the Michelin standards and definition of being: "very good in its category". But if you seek something that will leave you in awe, and dishes you'll still remember 5 years from now, this might not be the place. So I would definitely recommend the place to someone who is briefed on the concept and/or wants to discover this part of French gastronomy history and/or just want a great elevated lunch experience.

We had dinner here to celebrate a friend’s birthday and loved the interiors and decorations. Luckily we got window seats and a lovely small round table. The seaweed sourdough is amazing! We had tuna and four gras to kick off tonight’s dinner, tuna with the creaming sauce is very fresh. Foie gras is a cold jelly slice warp with pastry, a good balance between the sour acidic, and creamy crunch. We order seabass and lobster for the second dish, these two are very classic French styles, honestly, we get more bread to finish the lobster sauce lol The main dish we got was the rabbit, it came with a cold dish, a soup, and pan-fried dark meat. It is nice to share with 2-3 people. The dessert was impressive and cute, we got a hazelnut chocolate cake, and my friend got an ice cream as a birthday gift. We wrapped this meal with mini mini-size of macaron and madeleine. Overall it is a nice place with family, friends, or dates.

5/5: Ambiance and wine list are what make this dining experience stand out above others. One of the most extensive wine lists packed full of gems. Food was good, though I was not swept off my feet with our starter(foie grad pate and leeks) I will say they do a fantastic job with the leek dish. Perfectly prepared and tender. Cocktails were perfect! Entrees did not disappoint. Highly recommend the bone marrow filet and lobster. The desert was probably the best part of the meal.

This was my first experience at a Michelin star restaurant for an anniversary, and it was beyond my wildest expectations. The service was top notch, and so was the food. Everyone there was devoted to making sure my husband and I were having the best experience possible. The oysters were absolutely amazing, but one of my top recommendations is the Tartare de boeuf. Such an amazing dish with the earthy meat flavor and ocean salt flavor from the caviar. Perfect combination. I would love to come back again sometime.

I had one of the most magical dinners here with a friend. We like to go on food-adventures together, and on an evening when our plans had fallen through, we were walking down Lafayette and saw Le Coucou. We never thought we would get a table walking in off the street, but they surprisingly had a table reserved for walk-ins and we were seated immediately. We sat at a tiny table in the corner next to the kitchen, clearly the least desirable seat in the house, but it was such an experience watching the kitchen and the waiters all evening, we loved it. We tried many things we had never heard of before, including Sweetbread, which we realized wasn’t bread at all, but in fact thymus. Despite our ignorance, everything was incredibly delicious. Overall it was a dinner to remember, I hope to visit again. Maybe this time I’ll make a reservation.
