I hiked here in the blistering summer heat and was rewarded with the best iced coffee ever and divine pastry. Worth every step. This is a must-visit whenever I'm on the Upper West Side. Simply the best.

I visited this place several times with different friends and we always have a positive feedback. Awsome Cheese Danish, Croissants among many other delicious artisanal pastires. Tea qnd coffee ++ Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Located in a very nice neighborhood across from the St John's Cathedral.

The pastry I had (apple turnover) was excellent. I have a gluten sensitivity and try to be very selective of when I take digestive enzymes and indulge ... AND THIS WAS SO WORTH IT! The pastry itself wasn't overly sweet, in fact there was a little saltiness to it (in a good way) and the apple filling was warm and perfectly sweet. The place was busy but not so busy I couldn't find outdoor seating. The entire pastry case looked amazing.

This place is very popular. They have really good pastries and a lot of local students come here because it's near Columbia University. They have a friendly staff and great service. if you want to enjoy a cup of cappuccino and fresh cooked pastries..this is a place to be.

I adore this place

Fabulous Hungarian and Viennese pastry. Wonderful croissants. My favorite? Rigo Janci, a chocolate cake with icing and chocolate cream. Bottomless cup of coffee. Across from the cathedral of st john the Devine (a NYC must see), its often crowded with students, writers and flaneurs. I'm in and out of here all the time.

So tasty!! The chocolate hazelnut mousse killed me! I wish I could have eaten everything. Not a place I would want to be studying in because it's so packed, but lovely to take some treats and eat in the park.

Good cappucinno and tasty desserts. Outside seating on a beautiful quiet night is just right.

It's so nice to be wandering around the far UWS and actually finding a coffee and pastry nook that is open late. In fact, most nights this place is open until 11:30 and on Sunday until 10:30. It's such a neat alternative to Starbucks, most of which close earlier anyway. As we were taking a walk last night in the cooler weather we came upon Hungarian Pastry Shop and immediately noticed the outside seating up front and grabbed a table.

We went inside to place our order and I realized they do not offer wifi here. One of the few coffee spots that is really just for having coffee, conversation, and a bite to eat. No wifi hogs here, but a few were doing some work on their computers. There are a lot of tables to sit at. Has that beat up and age worn old NYC style vibe going on. Kind of a cozy and non-pretentious place. Counter staff are attentive enough if indifferent. We ordered a few cappuccino's and a slice of carrot cake to share. Both really good and the cake was mighty tasty. Just the right way to cap off the weekend sitting outside and enjoying the nice evening

At this time of night around 9:30 pm all around us people were reading, relaxing over subdued conversation, and some Columbia students were quietly studying. Not too crowded. It was a nice peaceful setting and across from a park that is part of Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in a stretch that just seems more tranquil. I expect it gets jam packed during the day and earlier evening hours though with a mix of locals and students. It feels like the only game in town as there is not much more up here and few other options for coffee and dessert nearby. Seems like a terrific little coffee and pastry shop that is very old school New York. Wish there were more of these places as most have disappeared.

Wonderful place to nosh and sit. You know you are in the city when you step into this place. You can have some unbelievable pastries, sit, have some coffee with friends and enjoy a slice of life. This place doesn't feel rushed yet it feels so very NYC. The coffee is hot and fresh and bottomless.

The staff is friendly and helpful with all of the different pastries. I have a fondness for anything filled.

Stopped by here on a Thursday morning to grab a snack during our walk and this was literally the best croissant and cheese danish I have ever had. It was soft and buttery and I am waiting to come back and have it again. I know the lines here are long on the weekends but at this time, there was just a short one!

A really fun and iconic shop near Columbia serving lots of traditional and delicious pastries! The inside is usually always busy but I’ve always been able to grab a seat despite the business. Don’t be turned off if there’s a long line, it always moves pretty fast

Amazing pastries! Usually, it's a long line but worth waiting and they attend super fast. Place is quite small and you can see a lot of students and people staying for long time. Taste the coffee too.

Yum! I was fortunate to have an appointment nearby yesterday, I missed the work crowd and line. It ALWAYS has a long line on weekends. Alas, no wait and no rush, just lucky. I wanted everything but settled on an eclair, flourless raspberry and the best tiramisu I have ever had! Just having come back from a vacation in Italy, says a lot!

Great energy and comfy environment. Cheesecake and almond croissant was great. Tho, the cheese puff wasn’t as fluffy puff as it looked; it had more of a biscuit texture than a puffy fluffy goodness. To each their own. I’ll be back to taste their other baked goods. Overall; GREAT. 😊

This place is so good there was quite a line before we could order. I have to recommend you try any of their chocolate cakes, especially the one shown in the picture.

No-frills bakery perfect for a sweet snack. Came here to get some work done. The seating space is quite large but crowded. A lot of people come to catch up with friends, read, or work. There were a lot of dessert and pastry options. Service was prompt and friendly.

When we walked past this pastry shop, we couldn’t believe how many people were lined up outside. We decided to give it a try, although we generally don’t have a sweet tooth. They offer a wide range of pastries, which makes it harder to decide what to eat. The staff is super nice and patient, and they helped us pick a few pastries. The flavor was interesting and way too sweet for our taste.

Nice little bakery close to the University. Fair few students there that work on their laptops despite the long line of people waiting outside. It’s very popular. I had the cherry strudel, I thought it was great. Neither too sweet nor too tart. Just right. The carrot cake was good too. The space itself is very crammed, so it doesn’t have the cosy cafe feel. I would definitely come back to try some other desserts. Maybe take away next time though.

Such a cute, cozy spot! Definitely historic and meaningful for the Morningside community. Staff was really nice!
