We hit up Izakaya MEW at 5 pm, and even though there was a line when they opened, we got seated right away. The vibe was on point, with 90s hip-hop and perfect lighting. It felt like a house party, but instead, we were treated to an amazing meal. The staff was super friendly and attentive. We tried their frozen beer, volcano roll, kimchi udon, and tantan men – all seriously delicious! I highly recommend this spot! 🍣🍜🍻
Came to this place for lunch with about 6 coworkers around 11:45a, which was perfect because the lunch rush gets crazyyyy & you'll have to wait to be seated. To start the vibe was good and not gonna lie it felt kinda like a club in the middle of the day with the low lighting & music they had playing. They played a lot of Post Malone lol! Now for the Food, I ended up getting the gyoza to start which I enjoyed, but wish I has more of the sauce that comes on the side because I like saucy things and in every bite, but they were yummy. For my entree, I got the Tantan men Ramen, which was good and not too spicy. I'm rating them a 4 star because I honestly was hoping to have some Chicken Teriyaki, but it wasn't on the menu at all, which I thought was interesting. Overall, the service was good, the food came out as they were ready vs. waiting for everyone plate to be served at the same time....I would definitely consider coming back. I just wish they had more chicken options.
Are there no good restaurants in midtown? HAS. This is an Asian kitchen hidden downstairs. There's everything from ramen to sushi, from fried rice to chicken. Although the menu is extensive, the taste is above average. I liked the interior of the place and the service, we can say that the food was above average.
A causal fun spot to hang out with good eats. Very energetic vibe with loud music, and service was good too.
My friend and I tried the Mushroom Kakiage (tempura), Tan Shio (grilled beef tongue), Hamachi Kamayaki (grilled yellowtail collar), and Kurobuta Pork Udon. Everything was tasty and in good portion for the price.
Reservation is strongly recommended as this place gets busy and fill up fast.
One of our favourite restaurants in NYC!!!! The quality of everything was amazing and the selection of food was perfect for an izakaya restaurant. Between 2 people, we would recommend 3 items because portions were quite large. The only thing to note is the music was quite loud so you have to yell to chat. Overall highly highly recommend!
Great go to lunch or dinner spot in midtown. Service is fast and food is delicious! Excellent for sharing with a group.
It gets super packed and loud inside so suggest coming early or on the later side of service to avoid crowds. Or suggest making a reservation if you can to avoid long wait time.
This is one of my favourite Izakayas in NYC. They have the typical dishes like sashimi, agedashi tofu, goma-ae, and takowasa, but their unique spin on traditional dishes is what really stands out. Examples of these are:
Omu Soba: This is your typical omurice, but with yakisoba instead of rice underneath
Takoyaki Kara Age: Takoyaki, but deep fried like ika karaage
Buta Potato Maki: Grilled skewer with pork belly, mashed potato, a dark miso gochujang sauce, and topped with scallions. I was skeptical at first because of the mashed potato, but it softened up the entire dish and complemented the crispy pork belly very well.
Geso Kara: Like ika karaage, but with squid legs! Very crunchy!
Kimchi Cream Udon: Luxuriously decadent noodles with a hint of truffle flavour. This is really rich, so I'd go easy on it!

Mew has won me over for their tasty hamburg steak, which was a generous portion with bold and zesty pan sauce. I’ll be coming back for that! The creamy udon was great as well.
Sushi / sashimi sets are solid for this price point, and some dishes are better than others IMHO. Find your own favorites!
This is my all time favorite spot in NYC for price, value, food quality, uniqueness, AND atmosphere. The line is never super long and the food is always good. I bring all my friends here if they’re looking for a fun, interesting, casual restaurant to go to. Must order the kimchi cream udon, kirin frozen, and sushi moriawase! The okonomiyaki and age tofu are also great dishes to try! Would highly recommend this place
We ordered many dishes and drinks, most of them were good except for the beef tongue. Price was reasonable. The only problem was that the restaurant is too popular so there are always people waiting outside for a table. Waiters are so busy taking away empty plates and clean your table ahead of time, which makes you feel clock counting down. I would comeback for a quick meal. But if I want to enjoy a good drinking and chatting time with friends I would go to a less popular restaurant.
