This review is for the cacao bar only, not for products sold in the store.
I’ve been coming to this place for the last 15 years and it has never failed. Nothing beats a great hot chocolate in a cold winter day.
They have one of the most amazing chocolate drinks that you will ever find. They taste amazing and have the perfectly rich consistency. Absolutely delicious.
Just be careful with what you order. Some chocolate drinks are water based (e.g. Aztec). My personal preference is to stick with milk based drinks like the ground hazelnut, as well Jefferson’s favorite when I prefer to have dark chocolate.
This small boutique chocolate store is an absolute treasure, offering an enchanting escape into the world of Parisian elegance right here in Soho.
From the moment you step through the door, you're transported to a different time and place. The decor is simply exquisite, exuding the charm of a private Parisian salon. Every detail, from the delicate chandeliers to the fine porcelain tea sets, adds to the cozy and intimate atmosphere that makes you feel like an honored guest in someone's home.
What truly sets this boutique apart, though, is its unwavering commitment to providing an exceptional customer experience. The staff here are not just friendly; they're warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive. During my visit, they took the time to ensure that every customer, including myself, felt pampered and valued. It's a rare and delightful feeling to be treated with such care and attention.
The tea sandwiches and scones were good. The chocolate mouse was excellent. The seating area was a little cramped. There chocolates are some of my favorites and you can customise your box when you buy at the store.
Came on a busy evening during Christmas season, but still had excellent service. Expect to wait a bit if you don’t have a reservation. The hot chocolate is delicious, and they even have dairy free milk which was a pleasant surprise. Our server was the only one working, tending to about 15 tables all by himself. However, he did so with class and ease, spending careful attention to each guest and making sure no one was looked over. Highly recommend when it’s less busy and probably smart to make a reservation.
I was so happy to finally visit this chocolate shop that I’ve known about for such a long time. I know it’s been named one of the best places to get hot chocolate. Unfortunately I didn’t get to experience the hot chocolate but when the fall season approaches I will come back to try it out. I was in complete awe of all the chocolates I saw. It probably it works against me that I’m a chocolahotic because I wanted to try everything. I love how the chocolates are adorned with beautiful illustrations. I loved the chocolate animal sculptures. They were so cute. I loved those lunchboxes that were filled with the hot chocolate mixes. I loved the beautifully wrapped chocolate bars. My close friend bought the chocolate covered pralines. I didn’t know what to pick for my first visit. I was so close to buying one of the chocolate bars but when I saw the Armagnac chocolate dipped cherries I knew I had to have them. It’s a beautiful chocolate shop and I’m definitely coming back to try something else.
Mariebelle is the warmest place in New York City and it’s not just because of its cozy vibes when you come inside. The staff is amazing and always cater to your needs with a smile and warmth that makes you feel at home. They have everything you need and more for an intimate m, unique and loving experience here. Definitely disagree with the previous reviews given, I am a Latina woman and I feel like they treat everyone with dignity and respect here at this establishment. Will always recommend to people and hope that everyone gets a chance to come and visit the amazing people here at MarieBelle!
The cutest chocolate shop! The store section is so cute and pastel and great for photos. The high tea here is pricey. Instead, I would recommend buying whatever pastry you’re interested in and maybe the sandwich platter and hot chocolate. The hot chocolate is so thick and rich, it tastes like they straight up melted a bar of chocolate into the cup
It’s a great spot to bring the girls and catch up! A gem in soho
MarieBelle is one of our favorite places. Johnny (who jokingly calls himself the "Troublemaker") always greets us warmly when we visit the Cacao Bar, even though we live out of town and only get to visit a few times a year.
MarieBelle's dark hot chocolates can't be beat (and trust me, we've sampled LOTS of hot chocolate in NYC!). The hot chocolate is thick and rich, without being too sweet. The ambience in the Cacao Bar is very European, from the decor to the background music. You might have to wait to get a table, but it is well worth it!
We often meet friends at MarieBelle and introduce them to Johnny and the best hot (and iced) chocolate around.
The truffles, chocolate bars and other confections for sale are also wonderful and all of the staff are friendly and attentive.
If I could I would give service 10⭐ out of 5. Chocolate is amazing too. But young gentleman who served us just stole my heart with his kindness ❤️
Exquisite good hot chocolate. About 6 different types from very dark to white chocolate. Also many French dessert specials. On the expensive side, but with it.
