Dinner party last night had a wonderful time. Great place. Food + service superb. Everyone enjoyed the seafood or filet selections
Great Dinner. My bf and I have eaten at Johnny V's several times and it only gets better The seafood remoulade is not to be missed. I love almost any, but this is one of the best I've tasted. The soft shell crab was delicious and the lemon icebox pie was also better than any other. I love the atmosphere, its like dining in a lovely Quarter patio without the heat and mosquitos.
We were greeted as family by Nash and was quickly seated. Our waiter,Mike was incredibly knowledgable of the menu. The food is very good ad well ad the service ,I'll be back
PERFECT NIGHT. This restaurant has delicious New Orleans creole food. And the restaurant itself has such charm. My dinner party and I really enjoyed it. Starting with their Scallops Bar Harbor and the Sweet Breads appetizers, to the Veal Carmen and Drum Ponchartrain. I was a great night out with great food. Not to mention just a few steps to Monkey Hill next door where they have such a fun and classy atmosphere and serve fantastic cocktails!!!
Delicious, New Chef offers great Menu. Before thenew Chef, I had been to Johnny V's several times and it was good, but now the food is great! The new menu offers many more delicious down to earth options. Even thought I haveonly been once since the new chef has been hired, I must say that there is a huge improvement. The food is delicious! I think that it is a must try uptown!
First of all, I mist disagree with the other reviews. I find the atmosphere to be charming. It feels like you are in a French Quarter courtyard. My food was excellent. This is the best new place I've tried in a long time.
Glad they were able to reopen so quickly after the storm. We had a table of 6 that included NO "visitors" & longtime residents, all with different taste - none were disappointed.
Nice selection of appetizers that could be an entree for most. The Seafood Remoulade was one of the best Remoulades in years. Don't remember all the menu names, but the scallops, quail & eggplant apps were all wonderful.
Our entrees included fish, veal, beef & chicken. Some were prepared in the classic NO style, ie Drum Pontchartrain, others with the chef's "daily" creation. All were seasoned & prepared to perfection.
Almost forgot, if you can find a better turtle soup, please post it.
Kudos to the new chef & management - this is a NO restaurant.
Romantic. My husband and I enjoyed a romantic dinner at Johnny V - the ambiance is a wonderful uptown courtyard setting. Service impeccable. It was difficult to decide on an appetizer and entree because the menu selection is so appealing. The seafood remoulade salad was the best I've ever had - full of jumbo lump crab meat and large shrimp on a bed of greens with a perfectly seasoned remoulade. The gumbo ya-ya has a deep dark rouge and very flavorful. My entree was a perfectly prepared rare tuna with a risotto and medley of fresh vegetables. My husband's filet with melted Stilton head blue cheese looked divine. Beware- the portions are enormous. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys New Orleans french creole.
This restaurant is one of the best in the city. With a new chef, the food is better than ever. The gumbo and the drum are fantasic. I highly recommend it.
