I've been going here almost 5 years now and never had better, or even as good. Wherever I travel to I am always disappointed when eating sushi. I always immediately think of this place and how I wish I was back here.
Order the margarita roll if you like lots of rich flavors. Its one of my favorite but very heavy so you have to be in the mood for it. I normally just keep it simple and stick with my spicy tuna and asparagus roll or fresh salmon and avocado roll. The udon soup is also really good. Never had a bad order from here
Service is bad but they hardly speak English. Sushi chefs are really awesome though, always sit at the bar.
If you like being pampered don't go here. The food is always great on most items. The raw fish has been good to great. It tastes very fresh. The service does lack sometimes and they can be hard to understand but the food most of the time for lunch is well worth it. I always get the sushi lunch special.
Lot's of options, great taste!. The servers can be a little absent minded, so expect to wait on service at times. However the food, which is why you go there is very good! The sushi roll choices are diverse, and not everything tastes the same. The chicken katsu is quite good as well, very crispy. Too bad they don't have a japanese yum yum sauce to go with it. Great place overall though. Best Sushi in New Orleans!
The Best. Hana is all 3: fast service, reasonably priced and delicious! I love everything I have ever tried here especially the seafood (sashimi) salad and rainbow roll and the noodles! The free noodles before your meal are so good! You can custom make your own rolls as well - have never been turned down when requested. I try to go here about every other week for my sushi fix.
4thaluvuvfood. Hana is in my top 3 favourite Japanese places in the metro area. They have the most amazing noodle salad and the hana special roll is so good that I have yet to taste it's equal. The brown rice option is great as well.Never had a bad meal here in 15 years!Too bad they never reopened kanpai after Katrina :(
Great atmosphere. Love the asian details... good food (gotta love cold sake)
Ambience: Casual Service: Ordinary and unenthused Cuisine: Great tasting, with ample portions
Top 5 sushi joint in NOLA. Shogun, Sushi Brothers, Little Tokyo (Causeway), Hana is right up there with them. The fish is always fresh and high quality.
The few negative reviews are probably from people who don't know their sushi and consider their generic crunchy and california rolls to be sushi. That's like a guy who dines at McDonald's criticizing Scott Boswell at Stella.
Poor quality recently. Hana has always been my go-to place to satisfy my craving for sushi or introduce any friends that have never had raw fish. However, in recent months I have noticed a dramatic decline in the service and the quality of the service. Rolls aren't being prepared like they used to be and the waitresses often don't even seem to acknowledge the customer. Though, I still have hope that it will pick back up. Try the Hana Special Roll (with extra Hana sauce) or the No Name Roll.
We love and respect the owners of this restaurant. They are so sweet! They always make us feel special. The foods are so delicious. The service is great! Love to come here whenever we come to New Orleans and crave for Japanese food!
I have been coming here specifically for their noodle salad for more than half my life and intend on eating it until I die. Long live Hana and long live Hana Noodle Salad
I’ve been going to Hana regularly for a few years now (anniversaries, birthdays, weeknight dinners, etc) and I’m convinced it is the best value for sushi in New Orleans—I crave it all the time. They have some of the freshest and most high quality offerings and they never disappoint. The staff is incredibly kind and the food is delicious. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but my personal faves are the noodle salad, yaki udon, pink dragon roll, uptown roll, and Utah roll. Please give this lovely place a try. ❤️
Food is super super fresh grade. They are so so sweet and nice one of the chefs chase me to return my umbrella!! Omg so sweet, im coming back, i came here for my birthday in may but i wanted to try again by myself. My new favorite place!!!!
Very nice service! Ordering togo was quick & easy, took 2 calls.. but it was worth trying to get through! Expertly packed! Enjoyed!
The rolls were made with good quality salmon and tasted great. Prices are reasonable. Location is small but cute. Hostess was very pleasant.
Ordered:
Pink Dragon Roll $12 (left)
Uptown Roll $12 (right)
Let me say by far the best 🍣 I have had. I must as that I had stop eating sushi because the more recent visit to sushi houses were not good. This place reminded me why I love sushi. The most significant thing to me was great taste of the sushi. The fish was well prepare and didn't have the strong iodized "fishy" taste you can get from fresh ocean fish. That made the dish for me. There wasn't many non shell options but you can request your sushi without shell fish if you are allergic to 🐚 foods. We had the fish and farm roll, Naruto roll(shell food), dragon roll (w/ shell food) and freshly roll. The freshly roll was best because I love veggies. There is no wheel chair access entrance to this location. Didn't visit the bathroom that is onsite. Host was quick with our starters drink and complimentary noodles and cream sauce. The noodle and cream was excellent. It is a child dish wish tasted good. The bill was inexpensive and the rolls were good size. Please see pictures.
Sushi does not have to be complicated or put on a pedestal. Jana has great service, comfortable seating, and delicious food that won't break the bank. Three rolls, a hot appetizer and a beer ran about 30$. Good date spot.
Food here is always the best. Tai San is really a master at what he does. The rolls were very tasty and the sashimi was super fresh. Definitely try out the raw octopus sushi, the raw scallops, and the yellowtail. The servers were quick and attentive, keeping my drink filled at all times and changed out my dirty plates. Every time I come, I am very satisfied and can't wait to come back.
Update: 12/13/18
Another excellent dinner at Hana. The chef prepared for us a special dinner with Uni, scallops, clam soup, and the freshest sashimi I've had this side of Tsukiji Market.
Good sushi with lots of menu options. Pleasant atmosphere. A little short staffed. Definitely worth another visit when I'm in the mood for sushi.
