As others have noted, this is a great tiki experience - dark, chill, and transporting. Service was a bit slow but super friendly and we were in no hurry. Drinks were delicious. The drink menu is more limited than Latitude 29 but the quality is right up there.
My friend and I were looking for a nice, relaxed place to grab a drink that wasn't on Bourbon. I found this on a whim and we decided to stop by. We absolutely loved the vibe and atmosphere. It was relaxing but thematic which we really wanted and enjoyed.
The only negative is that the prices for the drinks are a bit much considering the size of them. That being said I'd recommend the Singapore Sling. It was delicious.
Next time we're in New Orleans we will be back for happy hour.
If you love tiki, be sure to stop by. The atmosphere here has an Easter Island flavor, with no shortage of Moai. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The drinks were all delicious and made with care. Located in New Orleans, they do offer a Hurricane, and Wow! It was the best Hurricane I've ever had. And during happy hour, it's an absolute steal!
Great spot to have a drink and get away in a tropical environment. The bartenders are fast and very attentive. The drinks are priced pretty good and they have a great selection of different rum cocktails. A must go to spot.
Great drinks & great hang with the bartenders, Noah & Diana. The Painkiller is awesome!
Update...back to Tiki Tolteca after COVID, it was quiet but the drinks were as good as ever
This place was fun. We got there right as it opened and unfortunately within an hour they ran out of multiple ingredients for several of their drinks, which was sad. Also I understand that tiki drinks are intricate and can take some time to make, however it shouldn't take 45 minutes to order your first drink. Due to both of these circumstances we left earlier than we would have preferred. Despite this I recommend giving it a try, it's a fun place.
I have been to many tiki bars and Tiki Tolteca is now definitely in the same league of Smuggler's cove and Tiki ti when it comes to their drinks. I tried their variation of Mai-tai, Singapore Sling and Zombie and their bar tender Michael is simply top notch. My favorite tiki bar in New Orleans!
Very cool decor in this tiki lounge above Felipe's Taqueria. Grab your tacos and head upstairs to eat it here instead. Yummy drinks and chill vibe. Best hurricane in town!
one of my favorite spots every time i come to new orleans. always great service and cocktails. also if you want something not on the menu they will come up w a great cocktail for you. my favorite is the raspberry beret and my boyfriend’s is the painkiller.
Amazing drinks, a great atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. I would suggest the Painkiller, a great drink even as a person who is not a fan of coconut. Awesome mugs to purchase as well (the white one with their name).
