I've been coming here for years. One of my favorite bars in the quarter and the city. They have THE best bloodys. It's always an interesting time when I come, never know who I'm gonna meet. Lots of good drunken conversations, and was the same this time. That extends to the staff, be careful Greg's a flirt!
Love their bloody marys. Have shameful number of their cups at home. Always welcoming. Always fun. One of my favorite bars in New Orleans.
Here is the odd case where a trashy bar can be a classic. This bar has a very inclusive vibe and the bartender is a sweetie. The drinks are in plastic cups and are cheap way cheap. The decor is fun to peruse. This is a great place to hang out and mingle. If you are going to the Quarter is is one of the bars worth a visit. Check your liver at home ...
Ok so it appears the Lantern might not need another review. I , however , feel like I must do a shout out regardless. So, I’ve visited New Orleans a bit*. It’s my “escape this drudgery and commune with the enlightened expanse of humanity” place. We always seem to be beckoned into the Lantern while out traversing. Perhaps this is, in part, due to its proximity to our lodging. Regardless, what can I say? It’s just the friendliest Franks and Fionas, this place. Traversing with a concerned Cabe , or budget minded Brian , one may describe him as, economics may enter into our decision to enter this lair. So, beer prices are most agreeable, too. You’d like it. I know you would.
Midday Friday, the bartop is full but plenty of space in back room and patio. Some craft beers, most macro beers available too - all seem to be $4 (might be the happy hour price which lasts till 8p) which is a great price. Cash only per the many signs around the bar.
Such a great vibe! Josh was the nicest, so welcoming and made the best drinks. The place was on our list of places to go, so fun and very cheap. Also cleanest bathrooms in the city- very impressed. Cash only.
We came to New Orleans for the weekend from Pensacola and stumbled across the golden lantern. What a wonderful bar! We went back a second day and had so much fun! Happy talkative and inviting people made us feel so welcome! The bartender was the best I have ever experienced! Go check it out for yourself! I can’t wait to go back!
There's so many places in the French Quarter. Walking down the street decided to try this place. Yesterday we went to a few other spots and they were great. This place though not only makes the best drinks, but also has the best prices. Please make this a stop on your trip to NOLA it's such a fun bar...and good music

My boyfriend took me to New Orleans for my birthday weekend. 1st evening we wandered into the Golden Lantern. Coolest bar ever! And Liza. Well she is the best damn bartender ever! We were there 2 days and went back both days. It will be our first stop on our next visit to NOLA. 5 stars for this little hidden gem!!!
