Just arrived in New Orleans on Thanksgiving Day and looking for dinner. I am amazed at how few places are open other than hotels. We found this little hole in the wall steak and lobster restaurant for dinner after walking about 2 miles. Service was slow but ok, cocktails were sub par. We started with BBQ shrimp which was pretty good but very messy too. The lobster bisque was 90% cream and 10% lobster and not good. We then had the filet stuffed with crab and the red grilled fish with crab meat. Both were very good. The sides of green beans we not good at all and the sautéed mushrooms were much better than they looked. Overall, I was thankful they were open on Thanksgiving!
Star Steak House has always been one of our favorites. Low key but great food. Apparently it's just changed owners recently and is now called Estrella Steak House....(get it??? Estrella is Spanish for Star). The menu has stayed the same as far as we could tell. And the taste was excellent. The...
The atmosphere was typical French quarter, the food was fabulous. One of the finest dinners I ever had. The fillets were perfectly grilled..

Stopped in for breakfast, the French toast was amazing and the "down by the Bayou" omelette was amazing too! Good service...waitress Sherri gave us all her best recommendations and she was spot on! Yumm!
Best Steak and Seafood. The best steak and seafood in New Orleans! We eat out a lot! I always read reviews to determine the spot. Star Stead & Lobster House is possibly the best steakhouse I have ever been to! Soups were churned with love and time. Just enough cream to twist your taste buds into a frenzy. Alligator (newbies) had us all craving more. Steaks were aged like butter and aged to perfection. I'm surprised we even used our knives. Shrimp was fresh seasoned perfectly and not overcooked. Crab cakes were enough to make you want the recipe. Bread was soft, crispy and seasoned with fresh butter. Creative drinks. I can't say enough about this place. It should get the highest honor. Before I forget, the waiter, Jamie, gave the best service we have ever had down south. He was attentive without being aggressive about our needs. Intuitive about the meal and extremely polite. I am extremely impressed. Definitely a repeat visit is in order on our way back to another great New Orleans festival.
Good value with the groupon. Dinner for two with a glass of wine + tip was $50 total. With the groupon we were able to eat for $50 (otherwise the meal would have been $75). The atmosphere was good, the place was clean, the location was good (headed to the casino after dinner). The crab cakes had great flavor, but too many breadcrumbs. It was one of those instances where I couldn't eat it all, but then I was hungry two hours later. My bfs fillet was a little over-cooked (ordered medium, but it has NO pink whatsoever) but it had good flavor. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. The staff was really nice and that means a lot to me.
My wife and I had the red fish. Very good. Saw a few steaks go by and they also looked really tasty. Friendly swrvice. We'll be back.
The crab cakes are wonderful. I had the redfish and it was cooked to perfection. Two friends had the filet - one stuffed and one not - both enjoyed them and were able to cut them with a fork. My husband had the porterhouse and was happy with it. The service was very good. The musician was horrific! Scary to listen to and worse to look at :)

We were pleasantly surprised. The food was really tasty and well presented. Our server was polite and efficient. We ordered only appetizers: crab cakes, lobster bisque, gator sausage & the tomato & moz salad. I would recommend every one of theses dishes. They were all really good.
Has it fallen or are there people who don'tknow how to rate food?. First off it has been 8 months since I have been to Star. Reading some of these reviews I can not believe it can be the same restaurant I have come to love. I'm reading my steak was awful because I ordered it well done. First off if you are ordering a steak well done you should not be allowed to post a review (I'm sure the chefs agree). I have always had great service here. As far as the setting if you are going to New Orleans to eat for a history lesson this is not the place. Local Louisiana people are past the pomp and circumstance of wanna be local eateries.
Get the crawfish bisque W/ the Filet tchoupitoulas, vary good meal in any city in the world. I will always recommend this establishment to any of my friends who don't have a stick up there a$$. Don't come down here with you predispositions and expect us to follow suit. NOLA forever and always.
We walked everywhere looking for some brunch and they welcomed us right in. Group of 5 girls for a bachelorette weekend and they announced our bride to be in front of the restaurant and seated us right away! Wonderful service and friendly staff and owner. Food and drinks came out quick. Will be sure to revisit this restaurant next time I’m in the area.
Stopped for brunch after a cruise. Had a good, spicy but not overly peppery bloody mary and their eggs benedict dish. Very typical atmosphere for this part of New Orleans, service was good and the food was fine. 4 stars overall and would visit again.
Excuse me those Crab cakes in the appetizer section were absolutely delicious! Really set the tone for a good brunch spot! We gobbled up everything was really happy that another restaurant was too full to take us, because this place was exactly what we were looking for.
This place was great. The drinks were good. I had the catfish platter. The portion was large and the catfish was cooked perfectly. The only reason I gave 4 stars for service was because when I arrived there was a sign that said please wait to be seated, but I had to ask the bartender about getting seated after 10-15 minutes of waiting for someone to seat me. The whole street is loud where this place is located but I didn't mind. It's a cool little place. I would recommend it.
So we've been coming to Nola from Huntsville regularly (3 or more times per football season) for over a decade, but this trip was the first we have come here. The blackened catfish poboy was amazing, just be sure to get some of their tartar sauce. It's a dill flavored tatar, and is excellent. Everyone loved everything. Friend had steak and lobster. The only thing that wasn't good at all was the key lime pie. They definitely need another vendor for that.
Great brunch food options, super tasty and flavorful. The staff was very friendly… you will remember “sexy Adrian’s birthday! Thank you all for accommodating 11 of us in the restaurant. Regards from Tampa, FL. 🫶🏻🌈
Absolutely loved loved loved the food here! This has been the best food we have had in NOLA on our trip so far. Ria was our waitress and she was so friendly, warm and accommodating. Would highly recommend 👌
So glad we stumbled upon this restaurant for brunch. The ladies working that day were friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The food portions were large and reasonably priced. Drinks were strong and the food tasted great.
We had such a great experience in this restaurant. After looking for many places around we decided to give a tried to Estrella ⭐️because their prices looked affordable. Sarah was our server she did amazing. She was very attentive and friendly. Also, she provided great suggestions on the menu. The food, OMG the food; it was such a good food. We orders cheese fries to start, main courses were steak and lobster 🦞 tails. Lobster was fresh out of the tank. Thank you guys for such a great food and service provided.
The food was FABULOUS and the price was excellent! My husband and I had the Lobster for Two. It was $68. That includes 2 salads, 2 lobsters, 2 sides (to share) and 2 deserts! Normally, for Lobster that size & that good, you pay that for ONE meal...desert NOT inclused. We ate there twice and it was equally good both times. I can't believe we have been to NOLA so many times and never found this gem!
