I’ve been going to Port of Call since attending Tulane in the mid 80’s and it has never disappointed. The best burgers on earth and a baked potato like you’ve never seen. Monsoons are the best drink on the planet.
I will ALWAYS come in for a mushroom cheeseburger and a Bloody Mary when in town no matter how long a wait m, it’s worth it! Amazing food, amazing drinks, and Top notch staff, the Jukebox has the best selection of music around.
This place is one of the better burger places in the NO. Very nice atmosphere and service, burgers rival California burgers !
Simply the very best. Get a monsoon as you wait.
BEST BURGER AND BAKED POTATO ON THE PLANET! SERIOUSLY! If you want to eat for lunch(12ish) get here for 10:30am or you will wait a lifetime!
Often rated the best burger in NOLA, I've been wanting to try this place. I have been reluctant to go because its ALWAYS GOT A LINE out the door. So I picked a weekday & went early & found a spot at the bar. Got my martini & put my order in. Its a sturdy large burger cooked perfect with a huge pile of shredded cheese on the top. It was juicy as I like them & the bun was tasty & held up to those juices. They don't do fries here, odd eh? But the burger comes with a baked potato & that was done nicely. Over all, its among my favorite burgers, but only during the weekday!!!
I am not a huge fan of hamburgers, but I make an exception here because these are AMAZING! Juicy, perfectly cooked burgers pilled with meaty cheese, onion, and mushroom - or any way you like! The delicious loaded baked potato is the cherry on top!
1st visit to Port of Call and it's well worth it. We saw this place on one of the Food Network. We ordered the cheeseburger which comes with baked potato for $12. The burger was like what a great backyard grilled burger should be. They do charge extra for potato toppings beyond butter. We also ordered the Schooner Salad $9.75 which is a huge chefs salad with super fresh ingredients.
The restaurant is unassuming from the street as it's tucked into what looks like an old neighborhood area just past Bourbon street. The inside is fairly dark and features a bar in one side of the restaurant. It's not a big place and not fancy, but a nice cool environment with nice staff and pretty good service. The restaurant was busy and the staff kept up with all tables and the bar well. Definitely worth a visit when in N. O. Our server today was Holly and she is great.
It was my first time eating at Port of Call I and enjoyed the environment as well as the food. Love the burgers and baked potato. Little to heavy on the sour cream though.
Great burgers, served with a baked potato! Great location in respect to Frenchmen Street or the FQ. I'd say it would be a great spot for a greasy hangover cure!

Enjoyed a great cheeseburger while visiting. Definitely delish & as stated in menu. Dark atmosphere but would certainly go again when I'm in the area.
Port of Call is one of my favorites. You WILL wait, whether it's in line before the place opens or in line after it opens... For a reason, their burgers and drinks are worth the wait. My only complaint is that they use fake bacon bits on their potatoes.
They deliver on the burgers and personalities!
Sit at the bar and watch all the shenanigans go on.
No fries served here just a delicious huge baked potato.
The burger comes with all the fixings, pickle , lettuce and tomato.
The bun might be home but not sure.
Cozy up and stay for awhile. You’ll love the chatter behind the bar.
This place is off the beaten path, a little on the outskirts of the typical French Quarter places. I don't know this for sure, but it also seems like both locals and tourists alike were dining here, which is a good sign to me. The menu is extremely simple, but it works so well! My husband I both did the cheeseburger with loaded potatoes (different toppings for each of us), and some of their amazing specialty drinks. The burger was literally one of the very best burgers I've ever had. Clearly their grill top is seasoned well. This tasted homemade, but like, way better than that. Once I started on my burger, I didn't even put it down - I just finished the entire thing! It was the exact definition of hole-in-the-wall dive bar, and we loved it.
I'm a local and this is my favorite place in the entire city to have a burger. I don't normally eat beef but when I do, this is my favorite choice. I've traveled all over the US and this is definitely in my top 3 EVER. You got to try it. If you like mushrooms, get them on your burger and on your baked potato. The signature drinks are phenomenal too.
The food was very good and a friendly atmosphere, along with fast and great service. My entire family enjoyed their meal and the drinks were sooooo good. Not watered down. We Will most definitely be returning and l recommend it if your ever in the area to stop by and have the Port Of Call experience.
We waited at least 30 minutes to get in. Ordered a steak and it didn’t have any flavor (not even salt), it was perfectly cooked but no salt at all??.
Their signature cocktails were also strong 😜
I would come back but I’d mention that I want salt 😅 The baked potato was delicious!!
Service was good!!
The burger was absolutely amazing. We had mushroom burger. On the side, instead of standard fries, they offer baked potato with butter which heavenly delicious. We topped our potato with sour cream, chives and bacon crumbs, which made it even better.
Very busy place on a Sunday evening with excellent burgers and cheeseburgers, baked potatoes, and specialty drinks. Outstanding customer service as well. The Goombay Punch was my favorite drink, which I didn't try them all, but it was great, very tropical and sweet.
I came for the burgers because I heard it was the best in NOLA. And I have to say that they did not disappoint. The wait was understandable because with good food. There is always a wait. The staff was friendly and awesome was inviting. There is a lot of traffic while waiting outside, but that just adds to the character and charm of the place. A must come.
Port A Call in New Orleans serves up an unforgettable dining experience, with a Mushroom Cheeseburger that surpasses expectations. The Loaded Baked Potato adds an extra touch of indulgence. The Tiki Drink is a must-try, perfectly complementing the flavors of the meal. The vibrant atmosphere and attentive service make it a top-notch spot for a satisfying meal.
Came here for lunch today after arriving to Nola and we were seated right away. The girl who took our drink order and the girl who took the foods orders were awesome. Very pleasant, thorough and efficient. Food tasted amazing. They don’t have fries or bacon for the burger but that wasn’t a deal breaker.
The drinks are nice but very big. I couldn’t finish mine and decided not to take it with me.
