The food was amazing! The best authentic Mexican food I have ever had. Will be back every time I go to Nashville. Great service! A must visit!
Just visiting from New York State, and this is THE best place we've been yet, by far!!! Excellent food, very fast and friendly service, and beautiful atmosphere
We done here often and love it! It's kind of a "hole-in-the-wall", next door to a seedy motel but worth the visit. The food is great and the service second-to-none. I do wish they would get on the "happy hour" or "drink special" train but I still highly recommend.
It’s one of those places. The place smashes expectations. The food is hands down, the best Mexican food (need to add tip the cook on the check). Affordability of a early 2000s restaurant. Have eaten here 15x times the past few months and do not plan on stopping any time soon. 5 stars.
Fast and delicious for to-go food. If you want to dine in, they have a covered patio and indoors as well. The guacamole caserro is delicious and fresh, and I loved the asada tacos as well. They served them with a house made hot sauce that was so fresh and delicious!
My husband and I love El Matate! We stopped in one day 5 years ago and haven’t stopped going at least once a week since. The food is delicious! Everything on the menu is delicious! The owner and his wife as well as the servers are so welcoming and friendly! My husband loves fresh cut onions and they always accommodate him on his orders. I recommend this Mexican restaurant to all my friends!
So good the best Mexican food not the chili relleno I'm used to seeing on a plate but the taste of the food was 5 star....

Small establishment but the food and service is really good! I had the beef burrito special topped with cheese and cilantro.... delicious !

Classic hole n wall, minus curb appeal facility that I wouldn't consider pulling into 'cold', but having read some reviews gave it a shot. Give a try!!
This is the best Mexican restaurant yet. The service was great. The food was amazing, and the MARGARITAS are only $14 per pitcher! I have a new favorite place to go to whenever I'm in Nashville
