Extra friendly wait staff and management. The salad bar is average but the fried chicken and roast beef was very unexpected. The peach cobbler tasted like my moms.
The food was wonderful and the service was even better. Highly recommended!!!
Southern food and hospitality. Great chicken and short ribs; terrific salad bar. Great value. A go to place for comfort food.
Amazing! The food is home cooked and you can tell! Will defiantly be back!
Excellent Food. They have the best southern food in Tennessee. You will never find any better restaurants in middle Tennessee, then that
ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. I ate here two years ago while visiting Nashville, and tonight I was able to eat here again. It was as great as I remember. The best Salisbury Steak I've ever eaten, AMAZING Roast Beef, and fried chicken that is crispy on the outside and mouth-watering tender on the inside. If you want to eat and remember what it was like to go to Granny's house, this is the place. Down-home Southern cooking PERFECTION.
My favorite buffet in nashville! Every time I come up here I make it a point to come to Hermitage House!
In business since the mid 70s and a staple around this area. The senior owners both work here and live across the street in a historic home.
If you're in the area stop in for the best fried chicken and my very favorite... FRIED FISH!
Nice clean restaurant with plenty of room for groups.
My wife and I enjoy this place. It's as close to home cooked southern country comfort food as you'll find anywhere in the city.
Have not been to the Hermitage House for several years due to the quality of the food. We were pleasantly surprised with the food. It was fresh and hot. The catfish and fried chicken was cooked perfectly.
Wow! This is buffet style only. Lunch buffet was $14, including the drink. It was worth the money. Great home cooking, gradma's kitchen style food. The best meatloaf I have had in a VERY long time!! They also had carrot raisin salad. I haven't seen that since Chic-fli-a got rid of it. The other meat choices were fried chicken (yum) and real chicken and dumplins! They had black eyed peas and mashed potatoes and gravy... and more. For dessert they had blackberry cobbler and peach cobbler. I swear someone's grandma is in that kitchen! The peach cobbler was fresh and oh so good that I forgot to take a picture!
I didn't know what to expect when my sister and I visited the Hermitage House Smorgasbord. The hot bar has separated with a salad buffet, hot bar, and dessert bar. I had my fill of catfish and pork chops. They were amazing! My belly wasn't big enough to try all that was offered. My sister was very pleased with the fried chicken. I had the green beans, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and slaw. All were delicious. The southern hospitality was great!
We really enjoyed our trip to the Hermitage House , we also really hate that they are closing down. But all good things come to a end . The food and the staff were awesome. It would be nice if someone were able to continue the business.
I have been driving by that place for 2 years! Finally got to stop n eat and I'm not gonna lie The place had a kinda creepy vibe. It looks to be inside of an old funeral home. Complete with the funeral home music n all. The selection of food was very sparse. Food was really good tho. Hands down the best fried green tomato I've had in years!

It's like you went to your grandma's for Sunday dinner and she had all of your favorites ready for you.
Hermitage House has been around for years and years. Always busy on Sundays which is when we had this most recent visit.
Wide variety of good Southern food options on there decent sized Buffet. Most everything I tried was great. Fish, ham, shoepeg corn, mashed potatoes, roast beef , hashbrown casserole , great cornbread and every dessert was wonderful.
I have been eating here nearly 40 years since I was a teenager. Family owned and operated, their service is top notch, very personable and professional.
All their food is excellent! I especially love their tender, moist, melt in your mouth barbeque and light crispy fried okra; two of my favorites! Being a buffet, they keep the food well stocked and fresh.
They have a great assortment of desserts, including ice cream and popsicles; some that are sugar free, but you can't tell by the taste.
On special holidays they have a special holiday menu that rivals any Easter, Thanksgiving or Christmas meal cooked at home...only here you can enjoy the food and spending time talking to your family, instead of doing all the clean up and dishes at home and missing out on the conversation.
They even have party rooms that are set up like home dining rooms, for that special home like touch.
Soft music plays in the background and it is always peaceful and relaxing there.
Our family always enjoys coming here, even though we don't live close by anymore...it's still worth the drive!
Almost cried, the white beans, fried applies, fried chicken, cornbread and desserts, reminded me of growing up with Mom and Grandma's great southern cooking. Sorry, can't stop eating to take a picture. They were all devoured. Must try place!
