Excellent food and atmosphere. We hade the crab legs and beef tenderloin. The owner was walking table to table asking about everyone's meals and was very helpful. He showed us the specific technique of cracking the crab legs maximizing the amount of crab you can get. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good seafood.
A hidden gem! The grouper sandwich was to die for. The breading on fried items is well seasoned and crispy. Their tartar sauce is fabulous. Nice atmosphere and the beach view at lunch is picture perfect. My dad has a big appetite and even he could barely finish the fish tacos! The prices are above average but well worth it for the portion sizes. The Surf Hut was our favorite place we ate this week for sure.

Great Shrimp and Grits! The ocean breeze was wonderful and the wait staff pleasant. The have a daily lunch special and the environment is upbeat, but not noisy. We will be back!

Ok, Ok......I am going to be picky as to why I gave this a 4.5. The tables I sat in outside left very little walking room between me and passersby on the porch. I should knock them down another half rating for charging $1.59 for A SINGLE OYSTER. Is there a shortage of oysters going on that I am unaware of? I know there are issues with the Appalachacola oysters dimiinishing but Pensacola still has them available. As an oyster connosieur, I find this appaling. Annnnnyway, the catch of the day (amberjack) was cooked perfectly, as were the fried grouper fingers for my kid (and they didn't skimp on how many were in the kids meal). My wife is a fish taco aficianado and she enjoyed her fish tacos which contained Grouper. The view here is amazing consdiering this restaurant does not overcharge on anything I saw except oysters. I knew we ran a risk of being totally diappointed since most restaurants on the beach make no effort whatsoever in food quality and providing good service but we did not experience either of these issues that plague most of the on-the-water restaurants in Destin that can get away with serving tastelss crap to toursists at a high price with shoddy service because they are on the beach. Our service was spectacular. My experience here was above average all around. Keep it up.

A spontaneous trip to Destin brought us here and I am glad that it did. Oysters on the half shell for the appetizer were perfect. My wife got the fish tacos, which were amazing! I got the fish of the day (Amberjack) which was also fantastic. Server was training and they both did great. Prices were not cheap but we would definitely come here again.
Our first night in Destin and we went to enjoy the atmosphere.. It is on the beach and I liked the interior... Our service was very good and my shrimp and grits were very good... Husband had the fried shrimp and was disappointed by the excessive breading and size of the shrimp.. Amberjack was good also. Had a nice time there .
I spend a lot of time talking crap about how terrible restaurants on the beach are – about how they don’t have to be good because of the ocean view. About how prices are jacked up because of the location. About the lack of good service because we get to stare at the ocean while eating. I really had low expectations for Surf Hut. The only reason I get suckered into trying it was because I was told that the fish tacos there were awesome. Fish tacos? Yes, my ears perk up automatically. But, again, low expectations.
The food is delicious and the atmosphere is very pleasant. I was hesitant to try to cucumber and red onion salad, being a very picky eater, however, I ended up asking how to make it. I loved the twist of the pretzel bun with my hamburger. My server, Guillermo, delivered prompt and courteous service. And best of all? The location! Despite the somewhat pricey menu, I will likely visit again next time I'm in Destin.
Great table with a beautiful view!!! The food was very good, the service was excellent, and the key lime pie was the perfect ending to a beautiful evening.
Beautiful view of the beach and excellent food! I had the grilled tuna (catch of the day) and my husband had the pork tacos. All excellent and reasonably priced. Great daiquiris and decent beer list. Recommend!
We had a party of 16 on a Friday afternoon. We were seated fairly quickly. Food was decent. Location is spectacular. We came by Golf Cart. The long island was strong and just what I needed!! Its defiantly worth checking this place out!
What we had was good. They were out of oysters. Signature cocktails were just OK. I had a white wine sangria and it was super sour and dry. Crab claws were good, and we had a few other things but cannot remember. What is memorable is the atmosphere and water front view. I think this is the best looking water front restaurant in the area. Photos attached were at 9pm, full moon so my Samsung really got good night photos with NO editing.
Celebrated our mom's birthday. Mostly everyone in our party enjoyed their dishes. I didn't really care for the fried stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon. I guess the bacon overpowered the taste of the shrimp. The staff was very nice. Nicholas was our server & did great. The atmosphere & view was excellent.

We went back for a second time! We had the same server and even had a visit with the manager Al and let me tell you, if you don't ask to be in Tawni's section you aren't being taken care of!! Al was super hospitable to us and our kids! Service was second to none and the food was still phenomenal. 10/10 recommend!

Across from Embassy Suites and directly on the beach, this busy local restaurant offers fast friendly service, fresh oysters and seafood. I enjoyed the oysters on the half shell and a generous and tast bowl of fresh gumbo before stepping out and enjoying the sunset from the back of the restaurant. Windows provide a great view of gulf and the also have outdoor seating. Casual, fun and a bit noisy. So not the place for a quiet dinner, but good food
Can't imagine a more perfect place to have a meal or just a drink by the beach. The place is very cool with so many different places to sit. The stuff is fun and the food and drinks get it done. If we lived here we'd be coming weekly!
We had an amazing experience! My husband and I had dinner here for the first time. The staff members were wonderful, the food was really good, and the atmosphere was beautiful! Our server Austin was amazing and upbeat. He told us about the menu and what he recommended. We ordered the captain platter, fried pickles, and blackened cobia fish. We really liked it. The fish and all the seafood was fresh. The fried pickles are the bread and butter sweet pickles which we really good. Loved to come back definitely!
Surf Hut was a convenient dining option for us, just a few minutes away via walking along the beachfront. I liked the casual atmosphere with plenty of TVs on display for sports and patio in the back with several tables and cornhole boards.
Compared to other beachside seafood restaurants during our trip, I found Surf Hut's offerings better tasting and more reasonably priced.

Great beach restaurant with a beautiful outdoor waiting area. It's also super that at such a busy restaurant they seem to have a bar tender dedicated to taking care of the waiting patrons (Natalie was awesome). The place was hopping at dinner time and after an hour wait (not bad for a big party on MNF night) they seated us. Our server Angel was great. Our drinks and food came out quickly and correctly.
It has the typical beach-side appeal and the atmosphere is busy and pretty noisy. They did have a beyond burger, which I appreciated. Sitting outside on the picnic tables waiting for a table on the beach watching people play cornhole was a blast. Several in our party wanted to eat or drink out there all night.
I'd highly recommend a visit, but keep in mind it is more expensive that the typical American fare and seafood but that comes with the beautiful location.
We got the trio kabobs and we really enjoyed the variety of flavors! Why choose one when you can have all three?! I was also happy they make virgin frozen drinks and very tasty ones!
