Never been there for the music; sounds intriguing. As a coffee shop, it has the right amount of funky charm and the people behind the counter are helpful and efficient and generally good-humored. There is almost always a place to sit when I'm there -- with a little luck, good reviews will not attract too many new people. ;-) They make their own chai and their own flavored syrups; give them a try.
Every visit to the Nicollet has been a superb experience for me. The place has a very groovy vibe and the baristas and environment are very chill. Great music and art at all times. This place reminds me of my favorite coffee shop back in college at Ball State called The Cup. The coffee is excellent, but I usually have a decaf americano, which I love here. I have only had the breakfast sandwhiches and bagels, but every time they have been deliscious. I love this place and highly recommend it if you haven't been.

I'm lucky enough to live close by, but even if I didn't I'd still make the trip. Their food and beverages are both top quality and made with care and passion by an awesome staff and owner. If you want corporate recipes designed to appeal to the masses and maximize profits, this is not the place for you. But if you want quality and service and are willing to wait a bit longer for fresh-made food, and pay a bit more for top quality, locally roasted coffee, then you will love this place. For example, at any of the chain shops I have to order a mocha with 1/2 the syrup and an extra shot just to get something that does't taste like over-sweet hot chocolate, but here the large mocha's come standard with 4 shots of high quality, delicious espresso, and just the right amount of chocolate and milk to achieve the perfect bitter-sweet flavor.
There's a giant "STARBUCKS" sign right across the street, so it's easy to miss this little gem of a neighborhood coffee shop, but it's well worth looking for.
Go there all the time. Great atmosphere, good coffee, nice employees and fantastic art! Great big windows and big comfy seats with lots of reading material, as well. Oh, and fabulous chocolate truffles.
The Nicollet is my jam. Good coffee, good chai, consistently good music choices by the staff, most of the time really good specials, good place to get work done, and the right atmosphere. That last bit meant to say "no oppressive spyhouse hipster pretension".
Went to the Nicollet this morning, we had the tomato and mozzarella panini, the BLT pannini, the Chai tea and an iced frappe. the sandwiches were very good, and filling despite their appearance. The Chai tea isx by far the best iv ever had, they make theirs from scratch and it shows! its very bold and spicy, absolutely wonderful! The iced frappe was also probably the best weve had. The first frappe that was given to us was not blended well enough, but the owner (who took and made our order) said he would make us another without us even complaining. The owner (Nick?) was very friendly, came over and introduced himself and wanted to know how everything was. Great service, great drinks, and good food! will defiantly be stopping in again sometime.
Love this place great atmosphere, awesome coffee, feat food (they do not serve may but, it doesn't bother me even though I do eat it) I always get the Cubano when I go for food. Good flavor in the sauce.
Great place. Lots of room, cultured atmosphere without the pretentiousness of spyhouse. Good neighbors and good citizens on this block.
Local live music coffee and beer. Good stuff!
