Great location next to Bahaus Brew Labs with plenty of shaded/covered seating and free parking. Specialty menu items appear to change regularly. We ordered a spread at the window and they call your name when the orders done, easy. Ribs were great, Chicken Caesar Sando was terrific, while the tortillas on the Pulled Pork Tacos was underwhelming. Great setup - check it out.
I've tried to go to Animales a few times but their hours are a little odd and they were closed for a weekend once (make sure you look at their hours online). The pics I see on Instagram are crazy so I'm glad I finally got to stop in. I got a Meat Tornado, which is pretty much what it sounds like. The tornado was delicious and it let me sample a bunch of different meats all in one sandwich. I'd recommend stopping by if you're in the area. If it helps you decide to go it's also connected to a brewery so you won't be thirsty.
Wow. Had the ribs they did for Valentine's Day takeout. Amazing. I did not know you could BBQ like this in Minnesota. The ribs were fall of the bone tender with great smoke and a really nice crust. Definitely lived up to the Texas style advertisement.
We stopped in this afternoon and shared the tacos, ribs, and a bowl. Everything was phenomenal! Pickled onions & jalapeños were perfect additions for a little bit of acid & spice. The cauliflower was killer! Great atmosphere and cute seating area with the option to grab a beer or ice cream in the same pavilion. We’ll be back!!
Got the sampler, burnt ends and the tacos. Overall, my favorite was the burnt ends. They blend super well with the pineapple and are fantastic. They have a good variety of bbq'd goods and sides. Of the sample plate, my favorite was the meatball or brisket. A great meal to have with a cold beer!

Had a killer smoked pork belly BLT, super tender meat on a house made milk bread. Some tasty small potatoes and an interesting corn salad. Made by Jon and his crew. Wish you had the BLT more often. Really liked the corn salad, I would order that any day.

After Jon killed it with the fried rice, I knew I had to try his take on the classic Bahn Mi sandwich. Got two of them tonight, one for Doll and one for me. Carrot Salad, and a side of excellent beans. My goto place for Bahn Mi's have been Lu's Sandwiches. I have to say, this Bahn Mi is as good, maybe even better than Lu's Sandwiches. It had all the right vegetables, good amount of meat, and some mild peppers. Classic bread roll from Trung Nam French Bakery over on University really makes it. Like I have said before, killer beans, and Doll loves the carrot salad.

First to try the Brisket Mac and Cheese and the beans, Second to get a meal for our surprise house guest.
Finally! Someone who does not overcook the pasta! I got it with the brisket and it was super good. I like the pickled peppers, good addition. Your beans really rock too. Not sure how you prep the beans but, they are really good.
And the ribs? Amazing, with only a salt and pepper dry rub? So tender and juicy, even the second night.

If you ever see Jon and crew advertising pork fried rice, I would recommend running towards his food truck. Last week Jon stated his fried rice was some of the best and, I called him on it, and picked up some today. I added nothing to it and found the flavors to be spot on, plenty of pork and veggies. Salt seems to be non-existent, but I am sure it is there, just in the right amount. I got 2 servings of fried rice, I should have gotten one and, one of the chicken lettuce wraps, just to try their offerings. Some of the best fried rice I have had. Does that mean I am eating crow Jon?
Evening Jon and crew. I stopped by at 6:00 pm today and picked up a rack of ribs and two biscuits. Your ribs have always been very good, tonight I really think they were the best. When the first bite of something elicits a moan, you know it's damn good. Even Doll's first bite of your ribs, brought out a similar response. How you can make these ribs with only salt and pepper and smoke, so good, is incredible. Same with the biscuit, you have nailed the recipe here as well. Just a hint of jalapeno heat. Doll does not do well with spicy, but she ate it, and loved it. Keep up the great work Jon and crew!
Some of the best BBQ in MN hands down. You know it’s good when Texas Monthly does a feature on it.

Delicious beef taco birrias; loved the grilled cheese on it and the consumme broth has a mellow but delicious clean, light, meaty taste; add lime and it's good! The pork bellies were tender and delicious with the sauce. The ribs were delicious and smoky with a delicious hint of a sweet, seasoned bark! They ran out of beef ribs but I'm sure it would be just as delish! The meatballs were ok for me. I loved the pickled veggies that accompanied the platter. Their bbq red sauce is on the thinner, runny, tart and viniagery side. I recommend checking this place out! Really delicious and quality smoked bbq meats here!
The ribs!! Definitely the ribs! Everything is so good, but the ribs really cause you the absolute need to return again and again. We love the tacos, pork shoulder, the hot links are amazing, banana pudding to go (can't eat anymore after those ribs...) and every side item is thoughtfully crafted (the Mac and cheese is perfectly simple, however. If you want wild Mac and cheese, get the bowl👍).
One of the best burgers in town. Great barbecue as well. If you want a burger make sure to check their Instagram account as it is only available on specific days - right now Tuesdays and Wednesdays. And always make it a double!
