I absolutely love this place, and today was only my first visit. It's bright, clean, and all the staff are incredibly friendly. Old Motown and Disco really compliment the 70's aesthetic behind the counter. I got the Number One, a magnificent combination of sweet and savory. I urge you to try this place!
Let’s say, hypothetically, I was a little hung over and downtown on a wintery week day and I had just a half an hour to try to stem the bleeding before the next onslaught of work meetings— then this sandwich would be mana from heaven.
The number 1 rules, maybe a little too much spread but who am I kidding. It’s January and I just want to feel something. Very friendly staff, good prices, comfy vibes. Definitely worth a chew or two or five.
I tried The Chewery today for lunch and it was absolutely amazing. Not to mention the service was second to none! The owner was working the cash register and she is as an absolute sweet heart. Not to mention her team was very polite as well. Typically I would not go out of my way for a sandwich (being that the restaurant is located in the basement of Minneapolis City Hall) but after today’s experience I will definitely be back if I am ever in the area again for work or an event. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a fresh meal for breakfast or lunch!
Tried this spot for the first time today for a breakfast sandwich. What a fabulous hidden gem. It has a 70's 'soul food' vibe and its run by the owner, who had all kinds of questions for me! My name, how I heard about the place...What a character, she was great. In today's culture of smartphones and airpods, it was refreshing to have a genuine face-to-face customer experience. She absolutely made my day.
I stopped by the jewelry while I was waiting in line to renew my gun permit, best decision I've made in months.
Get the number one on the croissant, one of the best and breakfast sandwiches I've ever had.

This place is AMAZING!!!! First I was pulled in by the friendly staff. Next I was made to feel like I have new family. The food... the food! The food stole the show! I ordered the #1 and felt I bit into a piece of heaven. I’m not ready to die but if I did I would be one happy man. :)
Extremely good customer service, good food, and good prices! In the underground skyway between City Hall and Hennepin County building. Very limited seating, primarily take-away counter service.
Miss Lori I just wanted to let you know this sandwich was the best sandwich I ever had in my 32 years of existence my taste buds were doing the macarena the Cha Cha slide and the cupid shuffle all in one witha dab on top I will be coming back everybody I walked past on my way to the car I sent your way everybody that I see for the rest of the day I'm sending your way this sandwich is exquisite and I highly recommend if you're going to be downtown please please please go to the chewery in the government building
Good Food. Get in early or call ahead if you want the delicious chicken and wild rice soup oh it taste like butter. Save some for me.
