I recently dined at Giulia, the Italian restaurant nestled within the charming Emery Hotel in downtown Minneapolis. The experience was a mix of highs and lows. The restaurant's ambience is undoubtedly captivating, with a beautiful setting that creates the perfect atmosphere for a special evening. Our server was attentive and provided excellent service, adding to the overall pleasant experience. However, when it came to the food, it left me with mixed feelings. While it was undeniably good, it didn't quite reach the level of being exceptional. The menu offered a variety of Italian dishes, but the flavors, though enjoyable, didn't leave a lasting impression. This made me question the somewhat higher price point, as I expected a bit more for what I paid. In summary, my visit to Giulia at the Emery Hotel was enjoyable, but it didn't completely wow me. I'd recommend it for a special occasion, as the ambience and service make it a suitable choice for such events. However, for regular dining, I might explore other options in the city that offer a more remarkable culinary experience!

Great food. Great atmosphere. Service was prompt and informative when asked about food. Thanks, Parker. 😁 The foccacia was diviiiiine. Portion for the ravioli was small, but more than enough when splitting with the chicken parm. I'd order the ravioli again simply because they were amazing and so flavorful!

I think this is one of the best lesser known brunch places I've tried in Minneapolis. It's located inside the emery hotel. The dishes we got here were well crafted and beautiful. The menu was a bit hard for my small brain to understand but I ended up deciphering what the french toast was and ordered that. I was not disappointed the meal tasted delicious overall and had 10/10 presentation for a Minneapolis brunch spot. The only criticism I have for the dish is I wish there was a little whipped butter instead of whipped sweet cream as the dish was a bit too sweet for my liking. My friends all enjoyed their meals as well. The tiramisu pastry was beautiful and delicious! Although the cured meat Panini was Apperently just ok. Service was great and we'll attentive to our tables needs. Highly recommend checking out this beautiful space (and the spy house next door)

Food was good. Fungi pizza was amazing. Much bigger than we anticipated. Atmosphere was cool. Lighting could be a tad darker for dinner. Service was okay, nothing spectacular. But experience overall was good.

My second time dining here. Tried the table side pulled mozzarella this time around. Great experience and a very tasty appetizer. Love the signature cocktails and service is amazing. Food was pretty good. I got the fettuccine verde and highly recommend this dish! Beautiful atmosphere and location as well.

Authentic Italian in a fun & modern atmosphere. A renovated bank makes for a unique and historic spot- peak inside the private dining room and you can see the old vault! The service was wonderful– food was good.. I’ve had better Italian food in the cities but the environment definitely makes up for this. I ordered the cacio e pepe which was a favorite dish of mine when I visited Italy. It came out of the kitchen warm, not hot. This dish must be served hot! It also lacked fresh cracked pepper. Lastly, I’m very surprised they didn’t serve complementary bread to the table, would have been good with my meal. I also tried the pappardelle pasta and a pizza which were better than my meal.

Absolutely unbelievable. With modern takes on classical dishes, Giulia gave me everything I wanted in an upscale Italian dining experience and then some. The aesthetic of the restaurant is chic with historical homages and the staff is tremendous, however it’s the food that shines the most. The Suppli, Ragu, and Frangipane were each fresh, robust in flavor, and unique in experience bringing back memories of Italian food that my Mom made me growing up. Atop all of that is an excellent bar selection. I could not recommend enough and I will be back.

Really special architecture with quite a back story. The service was friendly and informative. Loved the pasta dishes and the tomato salad was just the right size for two. As a special treat we received a tour of the bank vaults and other secrets of the building. Highly recommend! I missed the name of our server but his service was over the top.

Since I have tried many Italian food places in the Twin Cities area, I will say that Giulia is a solid option but comes up just slightly short. The funghi pizza was good but was slightly salty and was too expensive for its size. The oven-fired focaccia was a solid choice and the pomodoro sauce complemented the bread very well. Pasta-wise, I got the fettuccine verde, which my friend liked but I thought it was way too salty. But I did think that the spinach poppyseed pasta was very well-made! It was easy to tell it was made on the spot and tasted very fresh. The pappardelle tasted pretty good, and it was pretty hard to go wrong with that option since it had pork ragu and tomato. The seafood cavatelli could be better as I thought the seafood's flavor and the pasta's flavor (along with its sauce) did not mesh well, causing the seafood to taste like its own thing instead of in synchrony with the pasta. We ordered two desserts, the chocolate panna cotta and the almond frangipane. Both were solid 10/10 and would definitely recommend! Overall it was a good experience and satisfied my food curiosity for the place!

We recently stayed at the Emery Hotel and decided to try the new brunch offering at Giulia. First of all, the entire first floor of the Emery Hotel is stunning, and Giulia is no exception. The mix of blue tile, dark woods, marble pillars, coffered ceilings and the open kitchen with a blazing oven created a memorable ambiance. As for the food, we had heard great things about the breakfast pizza, but decided to save that for another time because we were having pizza for dinner. I wanted something lighter, so I opted for the frittata with arugula, asparagus, spinach, onions, mushrooms and tomatoes, topped with parmesan and crushed red pepper. It was exactly what I hoped for — light, fresh, loaded with veggies and still piping hot when it came to the table. We got a tip about the house made sausage, so my wife ordered the Colazione Americano, which included pan-steamed eggs, house sausage, potatoes alla greca and focaccia. Everything on the plate was well prepared and the focaccia quite tasty as an alternative to toast. But the sausage…wow. Slightly sweet, salty, juicy, fork tender and ridiculously delicious. Some of the best sausage I’ve ever had. The only very small hiccup was that our server seemed very new and didn’t know the answer to many of our questions. Can the eggs be prepared scrambled rather than pan-steamed, for instance? He wasn’t sure. Do you have almond or soy milk for the coffee? He wasn’t sure. Do you have ketchup? He wasn’t sure…but then came back with a spicy, house made ketchup! That said, we’re all new at some point and he was very kind, so it didn’t put a dent in our overall experience and my 5-star rating for Giulia. If you visit for brunch, definitely try the house made sausage and ask for their spicy ketchup on the side! (Don’t be thrown off by the empty bar photo. I took that early in the morning long before the restaurant opened for the day.)
