If you're a heat head this is probably the hottest I've had anywhere. I asked Harry to bring the insane heat, and he produced. I'm having an experience right now as I sit through it. I just ate the full plate of wings down to the bone. The people hating on this place just dont understand heat. Nuclear heat and some deep flavor profiles, its hard to find a combo like that.
Easily my favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities. I used to live four blocks from it and would frequently eat there. The jerk chicken roti is a good place to start if you’re not sure what to order, but everything I’ve had there was great. The hot sauce is amazing. The wings are excellent. Also, it’s not Jamaican, for what it’s worth. Harry is Indian from Trinidad and the food reflects those roots.
I found this place by accident-- I got turned around looking for a different restaurant, but didn't have too much time left on my lunch break to go exploring, plus I had never tried Caribbean cuisine before, so I took a chance. It's a bit small and has hole-in-the-wall kind of vibes, but the owner was super friendly. And his recommendation of the jerked chicken was spot on! The container he gave me was basically overflowing with spicy, tender, juicy goodness. It lasted me two meals, there was so much. I'm a glutton for punishment, so next time I go I'll probably ask for the hot hot spice level, but whatever level of heat he made it at this time was still enough to make my nose run.
Being here wakens the senses! The aromas are wonderful, and the casual, laid back atmosphere makes me feel like I’ve left the USA and am on vacation somewhere warm. Plus, Harry’s signature hot sauce will slap you in the mouth, get you high, and mock what level of spicy you think you can handle. 🔥 Thrilled to have this underdog of a restaurant back!!!!
I’ve grown to know Harry personally over the passed couple years. He is from Trinidad. I go there often. I especially love the goat roti and the oxtail. Hope you like spicy food! He makes and sells his own signature scorpion sauce.
HARRY Singhs IS BACK IN ACTION, after some time off to recover, Harry is back making the best Caribbean food in town, heads up cash only now remember to grab a bottle of homemade hot sauce while you still can :)
I've been a customer of Harry's since 1986 when he was on Central Avenue and have never been disappointed. I almost always order the Curry Potato and Chickpea Roti Dahlpourie. It is so good that I haven't ventured too far from that one, especially when paired with the Dhal Split peas and Red Beans. The Dhal mitigates the heat from the most excellent hot sauce that Harry makes from Scorpion chiles imported fresh from Trinidad.
For those who complain about the wait, rest assured that it is well worth it. Harry operates on Island Time, so settle in and enjoy.
Super super good. Not sure why it’s closed right now but damn, Minneapolis will be fortunate if it reopens. God willing
Serving portions were great, curry goat dish was very good, True family style restaurant that I hope reopens.
One of my favorite places to eat in Minneapolis. It’s not the fanciest and I’m pretty sure sometimes Harry does the serving as well as the cooking. His food is amazing! Definitely try it out if you love curry based foods and spice.
Harry Singh himself made us doubles and roti. I ordered a veg roti and it was very filing and tasty too. I also ordered a punch too. :)
Discovered this place a few months before I moved out of Minneapolis and I was hooked. I still crave it all the time. The spiciness, flavor, and roti are just perfection. Harry is also super nice. I had my friends ship me his hot sauce; we call it liquid gold. I’ve moved to 2 subsequent cities since and I never lose track of it.
