Delicious fried rice and chicken wings in south mpls and they have great takeout portions, it was my first time ordering here. If you’re in the mood for a slightly more sweet New York style fried rice and batter forward chicken wings (less emphasis on a flour batter - seemed like it was a wet batter then fried vs wet
I see why people say this is some of the best Chinese in town!
-the guy at the counter was super friendly and polite
-ready very quickly
-chicken wings so good
-chicken chow mein really tasty and good value
-chicken and broccoli surprisingly spicy and so good, easily 3-4 meals worth
-sugar donuts delicious, a lot for very cheap
(All of this for $35)
My only advice would be to get containers that can stand up to the sauce, all my containers leaked into the bag so it was all kind of swimming. But I appreciate that there's enough sauce!
Everyone has their favorite Chinese food spot and this is mine. I drive from the suburbs to South Minneapolis to get their fried rice.
Here’s a tip, call 30 minutes before you want to pickup the food, so they have time to make it and to avoid waiting at the restaurant for them to complete your order.
Serious, try the chicken fried rice (spicy). Yeah, there’s some heat/kick, but that makes it legit. I’ve been going to this place for 20 years. They always get the order right and the quality is very good and consistent.
Food is great, portion size is amazing, customer service is outstanding! My favorite Is the General TSO! We had a huge order, we let them know when we would be there to pick it up, it was ready, food was hot. The gentleman who handled our order over the phone and handed us our food when we got there was absolutely amazing! And a double plus for having grape crush soda! Thank you to the cooks for making delicious food!
I used to live down the street years ago. Just moved back from Florida and stopped to get the subgum chicken (no nuts) I always got. It is still great! Worth the drive from uptown. I’d say Bill’s is better than most.
The food was good and got once we got home with the exception of one incident and that was the pot stickers... Apparently they made the pot stickers first before the house special fried rice, the pepper steak, & the snow pea pod shrimp bc once we got home the pot stickers were stuck together in the contract and COLD!!! We actually had to warn them up in the microwave but then they were very good also...
Once we notified the restaurant of the mishap they were willing to take care of the mishap, very satisfying!!!
It was decent. If you order takeout, the way they package things is just awful. They put sauce in the same type of container you get your rice in (no closed cover..)
Please just get some containers with lids lol.
The cream cheese wontons have absolutely no flavor, I'd avoid them.
Consistently good food.
I've been eating here since the 90s. It has consistently been one of, if not the best, Chinese restaurants I have ever eaten at. Hands down, my favorite fried rice.
Yep, this place rules! Everything was great. Mongolian beef very spicy with fresh veggies and very tender beef. Sweet and sour was so crunchy and perfect that the kids actually ate all of it. PERFECT SPICY FRIED RICE. Cream cheese Wontons were basic but great: I’d eat at this place weekly if I was close.
