Best burger. People love or hate the burger, but when ordered medium rare it's the best in town. Huge, juicy and on a great soft bun. Fries and thin and crispy but sometimes greasy.
Love the Friday turkey and mashed potatoes. Salads are a good value and the new cuban and mini pulled pork sliders are fantastic.
Whitey needs to add some new taps (get with the craft beers) and please add a happy hour!

A step above bar food.. I have been a longtime NE Mpls resident, and have attended Whitey's dozens of times. I consider it my "go to" place when I get to pick a fun night out with a new friend, or to introduce a new place to anyone.
Let me start off by saying - I have tried many things on their menu. I practically have it memorized. On of my favorite things is the shrimp and crab artichoke dip. I have ordered this every time I am introducing someone to the place, and EVERYONE has practically licked the dish clean. It's salty, cheesy and you get chewy bits of shrimp. It's served with crostini-like breads- crispy and tasty! It is my favorite appetizer.
The atmosphere is nothing special. Dark wood, a spacious bar, high tables and low tables by a fireplace make up the overall look. However - they do have (or used to anyways) a downstairs area for playing darts or pool. It's reminiscent of my teenage friends dingy basement where we would go sneak cigarettes. It's definitely no dive, and attracts college types and your normal city folk. It can get crowded in the evening, but overall not a huge problem. They have some standard outside seating as well. Nice to sit out there and people watch while drinking and eating.
Whitey's offers a variety of menu items, and strays from your standard bar fare. They offer everythign from carpaccio to wings on their appetizer menu, from sandwiches to burrito's, pasta and meatloaf on their regular menu. The fries are very good, if you like shoestring fries. The portions are HUGE, the prices overall are reasonable, and I have never had a long wait time. The sandwiches are always good, and boasts nice, thick, chewy bread. The burgers are huge and very satisfying!
I would recommend this place to anyone who wants bar food with a twist! Come alone and have a sandwich and some fruit (yes, fruit!) or fries, or come with friends and share some great appetizers and ogle the wooden no-smoking lady at the top of the bar!
A great place to sit and eat with a friend. Under the watchful gaze of the demon stripper on the wall, laughs and cheerful reverie flows freely, just as the blood of babes in the days of old. We give of our hearts and souls to the cold, dead eyes, receiving as we do the blessing of the Ancient One. Come all, and rejoice, be one with your kin and feel the void speak through you! 💙

1st time here, had a great experience! Lunch was Paco's tacos and cheese curds for the appetizer. Nicolett Island ice tea was the drink of choice. Great atmosphere, and the food was delicious!!!😋😋
Good food reasonably priced, nice that they have THC drinks. Everyone was friendly and polite. The Band playing on November 5th was excellent.

Stopped in here after work with a group of coworkers for food and bevies. The first thing I noticed upon entering was that there was a livejam of jazz musicians, which was a treat in my book. I then realized the place was bustling with good vibe folks, which is fun to be engulfed in. Thankfully, and despite the crowd, we successfully found a table able to accommodate our unexpected 10 bodies. To my delight, they serve Melt seltzer by Modist, which I'm quite fond of. A couple of us sat out on the quaint patio, that seats about 25ish
QI ordered the chicken wings, well done, with the Cajun dry rub and both blue cheese dressing and bbq sauce onside. They were cooked perfectly, and I received not only each sauce I ordered but an additional blue cheese as well. My only minor dissatisfaction and the reason I give the food 4 stars would be in regards to the dry rub being very light and the fact that I was left wishing I had more of that good- good seasoning on my wings! It was light like porcelain or that one artist's "whitest white" paint that was created. Besides that and the star of the show was our server, who has only been there a month, he was superb.
Excellent experience! Group of 5 friends, all got drinks and sandwiches/apps. Wonderful service and fantastic food. I had the Cuban, perfectly done. I could have eaten the roast pork alone! Smash burgers were also a hit. 10/10 would go again!!
Favorite local watering hole. The crunchwrap is suburb and nothing beats the live music and free mario cart.
I usually rate some of these places by the kind of service you receive. The waiter was really nice. And they had a big plate of fries for $4!?
